    dock builders in orlando?

I need a floating dock built at my lake house, 60 feet in length, by 4 feet wide. Any ideas, I checked ez-docks and shoremaster docks, but they were way too expensive for the lengths. Any one build a floating dock? plans? pictures? Could it be built like a deck would be built etc.?

We are just about to build a floating dock, not as long as yours, just long enough to moor the boat about 6 or 7 mtrs long by 1mtr wide. The intention is to build an outer frame using 8" x 2" pressure treated tanlised timber, add cross pieces of (6" or 8") x 2". This will complete the frame work. The floatation will be large blocks of polystyrene fitted and secured into the frame. Add a few mooring rings and fenders around the outside, add a few 4" x 4" upright poles to support a safety barrier type structure (children & wife invovled). Once floated into place, it will be finished off on the top with deck boards.
All areas in the strucure are treated with water repellent timber preservative to extend it's life.
I built a berthing dock in a similar way, but rested it on a galvanised steel pole frame and it is still standing so I am hoping the floating version will be as successful.
The only issue you may have is the length of timber available, you may have to build it in 2 or 3 sections and allow them to float independently of each other (they would of course be attached in some way)
I'll dig out a picture of the berthing dock and also post one of the floating version once built.

I built a 20' x 8' floating dock using floats and hardware from www.dockhardware.com. Seemed to be good quality and priced right. I used 2 x 6 pressure-treated for the frame and choicedek for the decking.

I built this dock. All the docks in my community are floating because
          the water is tidal.

The finger shown left in the photo is 40x10, the finger shown right
is 40x6. Slip is 10 feet wide and 30 feet long.

We use 2 X 8 pressure treated for the frame. The cross members
across the bottom are 2 X 6 and the foam flotation is mounted
under those. Lots of galvanized lag bolts. We use galvanized corener
brackets in each corner. Also good to let in a couple of
angle brackes on top for sheer strenght. Mine is topped with
plastic decking from premier. Many people use marine grade plywood,
some use deck planking, or trex.

As someone said above, lumber will only come in 20 or 24' lengths
so you do need to sister together sections.
