The funny thing is I keep it above my night stand inorder to not accidentally spill anything on it. When reaching to turn my alarm off it fell head first into a FULL glass, caseless. On the bright side gazelle will give me 65$.

Put it in a bag of rice for a couple of days. It should be fine if you can get it dried out.

Check out the relatively new Lifeproof waterproof cases for the future, a bit spendy but a iPhone is a lot more.

My wife dropped hers in the lake at one of the local marinas while getting on her Jet Ski. That thing was under for 10 minutes in 3 foot of water. She came home in tears (not the first time shes dunked an iphone) we stuck it in a baggy with "no damp" and it worked fine that night and shes been using it ever since, thats been a year ago.

I was already thinking of the life proof or rainballet from joy factory. If anyone has used either please tell me how it is. The rainballet seems vague about its waterproof abilities.

I have the LifeProof case. It is pricey, but I like it. I put it under water for about an hour (without phone of course) when I first got it to see if it really worked and there wasn't a drop. I do wonder if over time the seal at the bottom where the charging port is will start to weaken.

I've heard of people having good success with the rice trick. My wife was putting hers down and placed it in my cup of beer without looking. The beer got on the main board so I was never able to revive it. I had it completely taken apart for days in a bag of rice. I also took it to a local fix it shop and they couldn't fix it either.

See if there is one of these in your area: http://www.ubreakifix.com/. They won't charge you if they can't fix it. You may be able to mail it there too. They have some ultrasonic clearer that may help get the juice off essential parts. Hope this helps.

I thought the battery was dead, but a friend called and it started ringing. No backlight. Pretty sure it's toast. Now, to get a cheap flip phone and wait for the 5 this fall, or get a 4s. Probably be 4s.

If you have a foodsaver you can put it in a canister of rice and pull a vacuum on it. Make sure it's off. Leave it for 24 hours then try it.

                      That's the best idea.

In Houston, I've just put them on the dash of my truck for one afternoon. First phone went in the toilet. Three hours on the dash and it was as good as new. Lasted two years and failed from an unrelated issue.

Pretty sure it's trashed. I don't have luck with water and phones. Where's that spray coating when you need it? Ie there's a company that makes a spray that waterproofs everything. Gazelle is giving me 65$ for it and 65 for my kindle fire I've used once.

It's not spray coating but after I swamped my Blackberry a couple times I picked up one of the Cobra handsets (MR F300BT )... waterproof and links to the phone with bluetooth... if you're eager you can also hook it into an aux input on your stereo and use it as a PA. I was a little dissapointed it wouldn't sync contacts but other than that I've been pretty happy. The ringer is plenty loud even under way with the stereo going.
