I am curious if anyone on here is pleased at all with the supreme court's ruling on the affordable care act.

No. Because even though I am tired of paying the cost of uninsured persons abusing the system through my higher premiums, I know that striking down the law on this basis was the only real chance of killing the entire law that will be the death knell of our country, just as it has been for every other industrialized country in the world. Now

A strict constructionist like me should be happy with the decision because Chief Justice Roberts held is ground on "constitutionality". He argued the law is constitutional because the government has the constitutional right to tax us.
The taxing strategy was devised by the Dems and confirmed by then Soliciter General Elena Kagan and now Justice Elena Kagen. The law writers sought her guidance to write the bill (make it Supreme Court proof) and there were emails from her suggesting that if the penalties were collected by the IRS it was all legal. These emails surfaced in her confirmation hearings.
However: (still as a strict constructionist and lover of our constitution), I'm siding with the dissenters and taking the argument that the lawmakers have over-reached their power.
What this means to me is that the next step is to pass a federal law that makes me drive a small electric car and the federal penalty be collected by the IRS which now makes forcing me to drive an electric car (or Master Craft) constitutional.
The step after that was identified by the Beatles: One for you 19 for me. If you walk I'll tax your feet. If you sit I'll tax your seat.
The final step was identified by Karl Marx who is just right of Obama: From AirTool according to his ability. To AirTool according to his need.
What we need is a Amendment limiting the size of government (read: how much money they can redistribute).

Every great empire falls. I have been emotionally prepared for the fall of this great empire since I was about 20. Now it is time to be financially prepared and start planning for where I am going to live in the near future. Unfortunately, the choices are looking like 3rd world ****holes or socialist 2nd world ****holes. Perhaps we will get lucky and the rest of the producers in our country will join use here in Texas and we break away from the rest of the dead tree. Now

how about Australia? They seem to have the right idea about immigrants from the emails I receive on occasion. Just have to get used to snow on July 4th and skiing on Christmas!

we would all be better off if i could be dictator of this country for 4 years. i don't even want the job, but if i had total authority i would do what should be done. after amassing great wealth in those four years and fixing most things i'd relinquish my power and disappear.

Gride,
Instead of dictator of the US, i would rather be king of the world. Unfortunately in America, the new status quo is to eat fast food cheeseburgers and smoke cigarettes, then incur the health costs for the (unforeseen) obesity and cardiac conditions on the portion of the populace that actually is responsible for their actions. go figureEric, Phoenix AZ

Nope, not pleased at all with the decision. Owning a business in the healthcare industry, all I have to say is get ready for decreased quality of care, decreased time with your MD, and increased overall cost for the crap service that you will get...just write the check (with a x3 next to the original number you used to pay) to the Federal Gov't instead of Regence, United, or Premera Health.Todd Aalbu

Smells like Chicago.
Shouldn't ethics require that she at least recuse herself from the decision?!?
