Short Survey for School Project - Please Help!

I'm doing a survey for a school project and I'd appreciate anyone who is willing to take the time to respond. It's for an Insurance and Risk Management class (college level). Thanks in advance!

    Survey

    1. What kind of boat do you own? (year, make, model, length)

    2. How many times per month do you use your boat in the summer? In the winter?

    3. How likely would you be to rent your boat to someone when you're not using it? (i.e. post an ad online or in the newspaper and allow someone to pick your boat up and use it for the day).

    4. What would be your biggest concerns for not wanting to rent your boat?

    5. How likely would you be to rent your boat if you were able to do a background check on the renter, have them sign a formal rental agreement to release you from any liability, and had insurance to cover all damages and theft?

    6. How much money would you expect to rent your boat for if it were rented for the day?

I would roughly use it 5 times a month

I would have a hard time renting my boat out to anyone

I don't really have any concerns about not renting the boat as I am financially secure and don't need the money

If I could check a background of someone I still would not rent it because a background check does not ay how good a person is with keeping things up or how they will take care of something

I guess a reasonable asking price for rental of a boat like mine would be roughly 500 for the 24 hour period

      2. about 5 times a month during the summer. Not at all durning the winter
      3. I won't be renting my boat for a whole host of reasons, mainly I'm super particular about it and there is no way a renter would take the kind of care of it I would expect.
      4. Don't want it damaged, scratched, run aground, beached, speaker blown etc. .. .
      5. Background says nothing about their ability to drive a boat. In other words it doesn't help.
      6. Much more than the market would bear. It would have to be enough that the boat would become a rental and I would just buy another boat for my family. So it would need to generate $30k plus per season in fees.

If your looking for a business idea, I have seen a couple ideas where a "club" is created and they buy use hours etc. .. kind of like net jets or whatever. The difficulty is everybody wants to use the boat memorial day, july the 4th, and labor day. Not to mention the saturday's and sundays.

      Interesting idea though.

I've got a 2011 230. As the other guys said, not interested in renting it... I bought it new and am doing my best to keep it looking and running that way and wouldn't trust a renter to show the same consideration (or have the skill to operate). If I'd purchased an older boat that I was looking to upgrade in a few years the idea of renting it out to help build the new boat fund could be a little more interesting... I'd likely expect 4-500 per day.

          2. Summer 8 days per month, Winter 2 per month (125 to 150 hours per year).
          3. I would not rent it, I consider it a personal item.
          4. Damage to the boat and liability to me.
          5. I still would not rent it. To me the extra money would not be worth the the down time due to extra maintenance required and the chance of not having use of the boat if someone damaged it and it had to go to the repair shop.
          6. $750/day but no one could afford the security deposit or bond required to replace it.

Not sure if your just looking for Nautique owners, but I am here to help. See below:

            Survey

            1. What kind of boat do you own? (year, make, model, length)
            - 1994 MasterCraft ProStar 205, 20'-5" long.

            2. How many times per month do you use your boat in the summer? In the winter?
            - 2 to 3 times a month, March to October, if I am lucky

            3. How likely would you be to rent your boat to someone when you're not using it? (i.e. post an ad online or in the newspaper and allow someone to pick your boat up and use it for the day).
            - Not likely at all

            4. What would be your biggest concerns for not wanting to rent your boat?
            - inconsiderate use and possible damage.

            5. How likely would you be to rent your boat if you were able to do a background check on the renter, have them sign a formal rental agreement to release you from any liability, and had insurance to cover all damages and theft?
            - still, not likely at all.

            6. How much money would you expect to rent your boat for if it were rented for the day?
            - if I would consider renting it, not really sure. I can rent a car for $50 to $100 a day, a Jet Ski for $60 for 30 minutes at a resort, but I never rented a boat.

              2- 10-15 times a month 250-300 hours a year
              3- No possibility of renting
4- Damage to boat and liability to me
5- No way, a background check doesn't qualify you to operate a boat safely
6- They are getting 2-3 hundred for a 4 hour pontoon rental I would think double that for wakeboat.

                  Survey

                  1. What kind of boat do you own? (year, make, model, length)
                  1993 Ski Nautique Closed Bow - 20'
                  1999 Ski Nautique Closed Bow - 20'
                  1981 Ski Avenger - 17'
                  2001 Jupiter - 38'
                  2. How many times per month do you use your boat in the summer? In the winter?
                  Almost every day in both
                  3. How likely would you be to rent your boat to someone when you're not using it? (i.e. post an ad online or in the newspaper and allow someone to pick your boat up and use it for the day).

Not a snowballs chance in ... yeah... I barely let anyone else drive with me on board....

                  4. What would be your biggest concerns for not wanting to rent your boat?

Our boats are difficult enough to drive, I don't want someone learning on my boats.

                  5. How likely would you be to rent your boat if you were able to do a background check on the renter, have them sign a formal rental agreement to release you from any liability, and had insurance to cover all damages and theft?

There is still absolutely no way

                  6. How much money would you expect to rent your boat for if it were rented for the day?

                  $0.... I just wouldn't do it.
