Anyone getting a firearm for Christmas?

I'm helping my mom choose a pistol today, and I'll hopefully be receiving a so called assault rifle with an eotech. Ps. This has nothing to do with recent events. It's been on the table for a few months already.

I picked up a Glock 23c a couple weeks ago, and taking a CC class in Jan. Hoping to get everything taken care of with the cc permit before it gets more complicated. I scheduled it a month ago.

I shot my glock 19 yesterday. Absolutely love it. When I was in fl I had to take that corse and it SUCKS! In bama u just get a background check and pay $25. Takes like 15 minutes. Be safe, always treat it like its loaded, and practice. I'm lethal from 0-30ft without my glasses

If I can make one suggestion, and you may already be doing this but......take her to a place that has a range so she can try a few different handguns out and have her pick the one she is most comfortable shooting with. If you aren't comfortable with the gun or it doesn't fit well in your hands, you are going to be compromising accuracy, which is the 2nd most important thing in a life-threatening situation. 1st obviously being remaining collected and remembering what to do.

In any event, Merry Christmas and I hope you have fun spending some quality time with your mom, sounds like it will be a fun day for both of you and how much cooler can it get? Taking your mother to pick out a gun.....priceless.

As far as Christmas....no guns for me this year, can't fit any more in the safe. I did get a sweet Buck gut-hook knife as an early xmas present from my wife. Made in USA and it zips down a hog's belly real nice!

She is not new to pistols, but its been a while so we will be doing some @ home training and then range training. Including disassembly and cleaning.

I really like my Baby Eagle 9mm Poly. Very accurate. A bit heavy. Not a concealed carry gun.

I'm thinking about the S&W Shield in 9mm for carry, but they are impossible to find in stores, and I have to feel it in my hand before I will buy it. .40 cals have had problems in this model though with the magazines falling out after each shot.

I carry a Diamondback DB9. I absolutely love this gun. Great sights, accurate, recoil is very manageable for its size, and I can put it in my pocket if I want to. With a inside-the-waistband holster I can wear it with a pair of board-shorts and a tshirt and not print.

I had planned two add two this year with my Academy bonus points but I heard the lines are long and inventory low. I've been out of the country for two weeks.

BUT, there will be two 33 round glock clips in my stocking

I got a new XDM45 last friday. I went to get another CC gun but I saw the news about the shooting and decided to get a higher capacity gun while I still could. Have not shot it yet but I plan to this weekend.

What 33 round magazine are you talking about?

for everybody that's pro-gun, here's a very informative (and lengthy) explanation of the gun control situation. Can't say I knew there were three other 'mass killings' at the same time as CT...wonderful media we have!

Good article/perspective...thanks for sharing. BTW, here's another incident in another school at nearly the same time with nearly the same number of kids as victims.

yep. that was mentioned in the article. Imagine, a country without the ability to protect itself...a criminal's dream! Why weren't we invaded by Japan after Pearl? Too many armed citizens.

Im not sure arming teachers is the best idea since there are alot of teachers that would kill a kid if they could, especially inner city schools. But, arming the school security abso-frigin-lutely. All these shootings happen in schools, malls, theaters, churches.....all no carry zones. Nobodys going to shoot up a hunting club or shooting range. As long as the libs are in control the gun laws will benefit the criminals, but I say arm the nation and someone at sometime will find the "solution" for a mass shooter and become a hero, then go to prison. But it will be worth it. Lock n Load America.
