You are exactly right at this point. Before the 16th amendment, states did the taxing and sent a fee into the feds to support the feds operation. This amendment allowed the feds to tax us directly. Fast Forward and now the feds are using the 16th amendment to force feed us healthcare through our employers. Soon they'll use the 16th to tax me for driving a Ford SuperCrew (read non-GM fossil fuel burner)

I don't get auto insurance, home insurance, boat insurance, or many other insurances from my employer. WhyTF? would I want my employer to be in the middle of my health insurance. Most of my previous employers were barely good at the core business. Health care is foreign to them.

Now that I'm an employer (started a new company in 2012), I don't really want to have any relation with employee health care at all. Sure, I want healthy employees, but let them go find an expert for that and hire/manage it themselves. I'm good at offshore platforms, not healthcare. (Although I could probably do it better than BO and NP. ****, NP voted on it before she read it.)

PS - another quote (from me, unless proven otherwise): The only way to make something idiot proof....is to remove the idiot.

I love it. Goes along with my favorite paraphrase: It's amazing how creative idiots can be!

Remember what chief justice Roberts said about the ruling on health care?

"It is not our job to save the people from the consequences of their political choices"

You know, when I first heard the "hater of swing votes" went the other way and became the swing vote, I felt 100% sure that Obama or one of his minions threatened CJR with his life.

But after hearing that quote, I was then 100% sure that CJR did his job and went with the law (16th amendment).

            He is so true.

On the other hand, when someone like Obama buys a bunch of votes in the 8th inning by floating in the "Dream Act", I feel like crying foul. Every idiot and even some smart ones are going to fall for that. At that point, the only difference I see between Obama and Chavez,....is Chavez is in Cuba dying of cancer.

I would vote for an amendment that puts our presidential term at 5 years and a "once and your done" term limit. That way, there are fewer campaign politics and every go round we have a fair battle between two new challengers.

PS - I wish our government and the 537 full time lawmakers we have were half as smart as us on this forum. We'd be a lot better off. Of course, on one side of the ailse would be the v-drive guys and on the other side of the aisle would be the DD guys....with a few PWC independents and i/o toobers sprinkled in.

I'd run for office but I probably have too many skeletons and not enough closets. Not to mention my laundry on this forum.

But Obama warned again that he would not negotiate with Republicans over the $16.4 trillion debt limit, which must be raised in the coming weeks. “While I will negotiate over many things,” he said, “I will not have another debate with this Congress over whether they will pay the bills they’ve already racked up.”

With that, Obama took off for Hawaii, where he left his wife and daughters the day after Christmas.......

I think he is taking lessons from Clinton (Bill that is)....."legally correct, but somewhat misleading"

What BO said was "I will not have another debate with this Congress over whether they will pay the bills they’ve already racked up.”

He is correct....because at noon Jan 3, it will be a "new" congress and "this" congress is actually "history". He'll never have any discussions of any sort again with "this Congress" and he knows it.

Now, ....I'm not arguing with you. I'm just forecasting the future of how he will wiggle out of that one. He'll say some crap on spiN-BC to clarify when the debate comes up again in late February. Its just him and his big head trying to get in the opponents' minds while looking like the hero on TV.
