I am renting a house right now. It is an old house. Anyway, the gas stove, thermostat, two wall outlets, and the overhead kitchen light are all on a 15 breaker. To me this seems stupid, lazy, and dangerous. Any thoughts?

The correct answer is to find out what is code in Wisconsin, and the city you are in.
Renting a house limits you to what you can do, after all, it is not your house. Have a talk with your land lord. They may allow or even encourage you to make improvements, or pay to have them done, in lieu, of rent, or not.

With only two receptacles, a thermostat and a light fixture, should have no problem if you ignore the oven/range. Unless you have a specific load(s) then assume these kitchen receptacles will be convenience receptacles with a 180va load on each (NEC 220.14(I)). If you also assume that they will be in use less than three hours (non-continuous load)you can use 100% of the breaker rating (NEC210.20(A))then 20X120=2400; 2400/180=13.33. For a 15 amp breaker you can have 10 receptacles on a CB. This would be the max number of receptacles you can out on a 15A or 20A CB. I always assume 80% breaker rating... 6-8 duplex receptacles on a 15a CB.Peace..

i can't find any info on the stove/range itself, but it does not have any kind of adapter. it plugs into a regular socket. it only blows if i have the oven on above 375 and have maybe my phone charging and something else(on a surge protector)

You may have some issues with the stove. Plug it into a separate circuit than what it is on now using a heavy duty extension cord, and replicate the conditions that cause the circuit to trip, and see what happens. This should at least isolate the stove or the house wiring issue.2005 Ski Nautique 206 SE, Acme 422, PP SG 8.0, ND Tower

The best thing, don't sell it out, neither live in it :P
But that won't do any good, so if you are planning to sell it out, rather be sure that you fix that stuff or tell everything clearly to the person you are selling it to. Now i am off with my surf board, take care and good lucksurfboard rental Gold Coast
