How hard to make slalom course

Ive been looking around to maybe buying a slalom course, but they are pretty expensive. How hard would it be to make one? Looking around i see they mainly use PVC piping and rope or cable. Im pretty good with this kind of stuff but all id need to know were how deep would the PVC sections have to be in the water, and how to attach the anchor to get a proper tension on the cables. Also how far out from center do the bouys go out to the side. Thanks for any help.

Here is a diagram I got from a quick google search. It is rather large so I won't show it here. If you have a friend that owns one, then maybe you can get a real detailed look to buy everything you need, but if your time is worth anything, get a real one, setup time will be around 30 minutes. Look at EZ or Accurate to see how far down their systems sink.

If you have access to Ice in the winter, put down a permanant course. Ed, at Ez-slalom will give you all the info you need. He has plans and complete courses to sell. The USA waterski website also has the layout distances ECT..

Thanks Hollywood and Mark-S for the info. I think i got everything I need, i just cant seem to find a suitable depth for the pvc piping that goes under the boat.

If you run pipes, a safe bet is 4 ft min. You will need to run your magnets 1/2 ft below the waterline. I put in a permanent course using stainless line and Sked 80 pipe. If you E-mail me, I can give you all kinds of advise. I had mine in the water for 6 years with no problems.

My pvc pipes are 1.5 meters (5 ft.) under waterline. No problems in 10 years.
