my buddies dad wants to pay me to replace his exhaust manifolds and the circulator pump on his malibu sportster. Ive never done this before but I definitely know my way around a ski boat and have all the tools. Any ideas?

The hardest part will be getting the rubber hoses of the rear of the manifolds. Is it a merc maranization? Circulation pump should be pretty straight forward on a chebbie. Shouldnt be more than a 2-3 hour job if you take your time. Careful with the fiber glass inlets on the muffler if its that style. Those get $$$$$$$$$.
For sure helps to have someone hold the manifold while you get down to the last two bolts on the head. Something that may make removing the risers from the hoses easier is disconnecting them from the manifolds so you can twist the riser in the hose. Again careful if it has a glass muffler.Zach@n3boatworks.com

It all depends on whether the bolts come out of the heads clean. I did a manifold swap in 3 hours on my 2000. I did soak each bolt with PB several times over the week before I undid them. If you break one off it can be an all day job to remove it. If you do break one, make sure you use a carbide bit and a good easy out. If you buy a cheap one it may break off and then your looking at removing the head.Nautiqueless in San Diego
