Ouch, sorry to hear that. I heard of lots of people injuring knees and other body parts slamming on their boards, but didn't know about foot injuries. Did your foot get out of the boot? Or at least, some of it! Hope you recover soon. I had an ankle injury (different sport) and the Aircast was a blessing...I could at least be mobile with limited crutches. Best of luck!

                Happened while boarding.

Best way I can explain it is

Both your feet are strapped in tightly with the wakeboard secured firmly to the ground permanently. Then falling forward with your foott unable to come out.

Not sure how that happened when I landed, but thats essentially what happened. I landed off balance with most of my weight on my left foot.

Double D, pretty sure your injury was much more severe than mine. OUCH

Mine was also done wakeboarding but I was leaning back too far and to the right too far and came across the wake like that. Once the board hit the wake going down away from me and I was still away and back, it snapped my ankle so hard....well, you can see what happened. That was in 2007 and it has slowed me down a bit but stopped me.

Wakeboards are dangerous, never have those kinds of issues on the foil.
