    New Dock Suggestions

    Well, it seems that it is time for a new dock. My old one is so bad that even the guy I pay to put it in said he can not do it anymore. I have known this was coming for a few years (well, since I bought the house I guess), but was trying to squeeze a few more years out. Anyway, was currious what dock systems people are having good experiances with? I need somewhere between 50-60 ft including an "L" section on the end. I am looking at mostly roll in styles right now, but if someone has another option that is just as easy, I would look at it. We are in MI, so ease of removal and installation is key, i.e. I can do it by myself or with one other person at most, in an hour or two (so I don't have to pay someone anymore), and perferably not getting in the water at all . My max budget is around $4k, but ideally would like to stay near 3.

    Any suggestions?

    A dock that large will be difficult to do within your budget. I am building a new dock as well this year. Mine is 8'X22' and already have 3k in it. The tubes are scratch and dents from Harris Kayot, Alluminum joists were free bees, Decking 1K, all the stainless hardware 5-6 hundred. Materials (esp. Aluminum and stainless) are not cheap. Even treated lumber is high now.You might thing about checking the "Materials" section of your local crsaigslist, contracors unload decking and lumber there.       I know building my own would not be cheap, or near the quality I can buy. I have found a local dock building company that I know can do for under 4k based on their price sheets. That is for all aluminum frame and Thru-Flow decking with wheel kits and poles. I am waiting for a final quote for a few specific things I asked for. Hopefully the "extras" are not too expensive.

        WHy not use something like this: http://www.ezdockontario.com/index.html

        I've seen them used around here and they work perfectly and are very easy to extend out if you need to and easy to pull out of the water as well.
