NautiqueJeff, I think he is referring to the middle seat (width wise) not length wise of the vehicle. You have captain's chairs, but more the middle of a bench.
Ah, makes perfect sense.
I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.

I have also had a 2500 and 1500 Suburban, either will tow your boat very well, in the mountains I do not use OD, too much shifting, the Suburbans have been very dependable for me. With the Excursion I would recommend you check to see if it fits in your garage.
I have a 2004 Tahoe. The third row is nice, but there is very little room behind it. The middle seat in the second row does have a shoulder belt, but the middle seat in the third row does not. The 5.3L has plenty of power, and the tow/haul mode is pretty cool, delayed shifts and does not shift in OD until around 55mph unless you are going uphill.
I just picked up a 2005 Tahoe with the 5.3L last Friday. It pulls my 2000 196 which weighs 3960# at the truck scale. It pulled it as if it wasn't there. It is rated at 7700 lbs with the heavy duty trailer package. The dealers can't give them away. I paid 13K under MSRP after rebates. I love it. It seats 5 comfortably and I beleive the suburban will hold 8. Good luck
Anybody ever towed w/ the Lexus GX series w/ the tow pacage? It has a rating of 6500 lbs. I know someone interested in buying an '03 one but cannot test drive it w/ the boat behind it...

I pull a 216 on a tandom trailer behind a Lexus GX 470. It has the factory tow package and pulls just fine (even in mountains). I like the vehicle a lot. There is a pic of boat and vehicle in "Show us your Nautique" on this site.
Thanks for all the input....we did some shopping this past weekend. We didn't like the Expedition or the Tahoe (with 3rd row of seats) because of the lack of storage with the back seats up. Nice vehicles, but just not enough room. We looked at the Excurision and I like it....but my wife doesn't...too big. She'll be driving this vehicle during the week so, gotta listen to her needs.
We are most likely going towards a 2002 to 2004 used Suburban 1500. Prices are in our range and I believe that we won't go wrong.
thanks again.

If you need a Suburban wait..........there will be a Duramax version. Or buy a used one now and then trade it in on the Duramax when it comes out.
I traded in my 2002 1500 4X4 Suburban for a GMC SIERRA 2500HD 4X4 Duramax.........NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE. With a family of five, gear, camping stuff, and whatever else, that Suburban didn't like the hills at all, but did ok. With this new crew cab, long bed truck, I pile everyone in, all gear, hook up and the truck laughs at me like "this is all you got!" I put a snugtop on it so we can load up the bed of the truck to the ceiling. My wife actually likes this truck better than the Suburban. We always take so much stuff camping/boating that we never used the 3rd row seat in the Suburban on our long trips........
