A daughter returned home from college and immediately started ripping into her father for his political views and her perceived lack of concern for the less fortunate in our great society. She had been conformed at college and was now a devout left wing democrat and couldn’t stand the thought of her father being well off even if he had worked for everything he had himself.Originally posted by Richard-Howell
The father asked how she was doing, trying to calm his daughter down. She replied fine. He asked how her friend and roommate Jenny was doing and the daughter again went off. Jenny she complained parties all night and never studies. She barely gets by with a 2.0 she added. The father asked the daughter how her grades were and the daughter said, dad you know I have a 4.0 because unlike Jenny I study all night and am prepared for class.
The father says well Jenny would have a better chance of landing a good job if she had a higher grade and the daughter agreed. So the father suggests that the daughter, being a good friend, should go to the Dean and have her own GPA reduced to a 3.0 which is still outstanding, and give the extra GPA points to Jenny, bringing her GPA up to a 3.0 as well. This he explains will help Jenny get a better job.
The daughter is outraged at the suggestion and explains to the father that she worked for her 4.0 and it was hers. She shouldn’t have to give her hard work away to someone that had the same chances as she did to earn her own good grade. Jenny could have done better, if she had only applied herself she explained and I shouldn’t be held accountable for her lack of determination and ambition.
The father sits back and smiles and says;
