    GoPro Update...DO NOT UPDATE FIRMWARE

Just and FYI, do not update to the latest GoPro firmware if you have one.
I did, horrible mistake. Adobe Premier won't allow a lot of the video editing functions now, I can't playback vid from the camera to my tv via HDMI cable.
Other have reported that they cannot transfer files from the camera to computer.
Just hoping I can save others some headache.

If it matters, not sure, this is on 3+ black.

I haven't updated in the past week but have had issues with my 3 black. The wifi constantly turns itself on. Which as you can imagine burns the battery down fairly quickly, even when not in use.

The first suggestion from GoPro was to update the firmware. This worked for a week then started turning wifi on again.

Now GoPro has decided the solution is to pull the battery when not in use. Which is a great solution while sitting on a chairlift or doing other things you would use a GoPro for.

I feel bad for the folks that bought their stock at the IPO. I suspect GoPro peaked about 3 years ago. They do have a large amount of the market share and their video quality is good. But their user interface and their implementation of remote viewing and control is atrocious. That will eventually drive users away and encourage more competition. Heck, even my $200 waterproof point shoot manages no perceivable delay when displaying a live image on an iPhone or iPad. Wish you could say that about a GoPro.

Thanks for the info. I haven't used mine since we winterized the boat, but was getting ready to pull it out for a snow ski trip. I'll skip the update. And I agree the delay to the iPhone is a bit annoying.

Jesutton3, that's a very strange thing. Mine has never done that! And that's a pretty sh*tty "response" from GoPro.

Vision, Do you really think they're going down? I don't by any means. The delay when "live viewing", I guess I don't see that as a problem. When I first got it, it annoyed me. But then after using it, I realized it doesn't matter. I only ever use the live view when setting up a shot that is fixed, wakeboard tower, car, whatever. I've never "missed" the shot while holding the camera and walking whether on a pole or hand held or whatever. Just my .02.
I mean for really a small cost to what the camera can do, I think they'll be around for a while. My one hope is that they stop making higher resolution, nobody cares about 4k, well I don't! Make it better low light, user adjustable f-stop for timelapse at night to shoot the stars. Stuff like that.

Swankster, no problem! I wish I had did a quick Google search before I did mine. Luckily someone on another forum has the 2.0 file to rollback! Crossing fingers it works! Too bad the footage I took with 3.0 is unusable to me in Adobe.

GoPro can at best hope to be bought. I predict stock price under 18 in a year. But, some one will buy them. Once you use a camera with a real live view, where can use your phone or ipad to snap a shot at the precise second from a remotely mounted camera, the limitation of the GoPro become noticeable.

Interesting, I got back firmware. Noticed that new firmware that was loaded onto my 3+ black, the bad firmware, was for hero 4 silver!!! Stupid.
