    Wandering mind - water cannon

Has anyone here done any experimenting with adding a water cannon to their ballast system? It seems like with the pumps and an endless supply of water you could go to town on your buddys that drive by too close or fend off annoying jet skiers. I was imagining you could just add a couple of valves to separate the cannon water from your ballast lines, but then I’m not sure a single (or even multiple) ballast-style pumps would provide enough pressure to shoot a decent stream? If they did, you’d have to also implement a pressure valve to bleed extra water overboard when you didn’t have the “trigger” depressed.

If you leave some water in your bags you could even use it after you pull out of the water to hose junk off your trailer. Has anyone else thought about stuff like this or am I just too juvenile?

RE: Wandering mind - water cannon

Oh yeah, I've thought about it... lol... along w/ a fire hose mounted to the top of the tower, which I guess would double as the "gun" for your jetskiers... I'd think all it takes would just be a high pressure water pump, not sure if that would be integrated into the ballast system.

The fire boat on my lake has one, and is on a jet powered boat, looks sick. Another one, on a different lake, their fire boat is a pontoon boat. Not the best for speed, but has the space for a huge pump. It's always covered so I've never gotten so see it, but I'd be very interested to see how it works...

Quick story - was dangerous, but we were out barefooting one day and a jet skier swung the back of his ski at our boat (missed by like 18") and splashed water all in the boat...not to mention scared some folks. There only one way in and one way out of this channel.

So, when he tried to come back by - he caught a slalom ski to the chest and took him right off the ski. Would I recommend it, no - was very dangerous and could not believe my buddy did it - BUT - it definitely was a jet ski stopper.

I feel that any jet skiier getting that close to your boat deserves that, once is bad enough, let alone to try and do it again!

I did not want you to feel like we were brutal, but he clearly flew off his ski and then 3 of my buddies jumped in after him. Originally to give him a real beating, but he was hurtin pretty bad and got the wind knocked out of him.

We threw him in the boat, towed his ski behind us (almost just left it there, but didn't), and took him back to the docks. His buddies tried to act up and my buddy who hit this guy with the ski (like 245lbs 7% body fat flexed his muscles and picked up his slalom ski again, I think he enjoyed it a little too much the first time - kinda like Hacksaw Jim Dugan of you watched WWF way back when - very intimidating. Anyway, they took their buddy and left. I gotta believe he had some broken ribs - he was squeeling like a little girl once his breath returned.

I cannot explain to you how hard he got it and was going like 40MPH at the time. **** it had to hurt.

                Sounds like justice was done.

Here is my Jet Ski story.

We were parked at Tulloch we were at the inlet where water comes in from the lake above Tulloch (Lake New Malonies) it come off the bottom of Maonies. We were partying and taking turns jumping in the Cold water.
This guy rolls over because he see's we have a bunch of girls and we are having a good time. He try's to strike up conversation, and Ask's for a shot of Tequilla, No body is paying any attenton to him and it clear we wanted him to go away. My friend says If you jump in the water Ill give you a shot. Then the Jet Skiier says "How about I spray your whole boat" Im like what the heck I sand up like Im gonna jump out of my boat and kick his ***, I suddenly realized he had turned his ski and I was looking right at the end of his JET and If he wanted to he could just drench us and give evrything including my system a sreious wash down and by the time we un tied and took off after him he would be long gone we would have never caught up with him. I felt like I was at a Gun Fight with a twig. I bit my lip so hard and did everything I could to try to defuse the situation, Inside I wanted to rip this punks face off. But I knew if I gave him the slightest reson he would have soked us. Talk about feeling like someone has you by the ball's. We just laughed it off and he rolled out with out doing anything. I swear I "F "ing hate the Jack Asses like this wally on PWC's

That must have been difficult to have to sit on your hands like that.

True though - you'll never catch those things in open water (70mph ish) - that's just an enlarged bullet on the water.

we're fortunate that jet skis & tubes aren't allowed to operate on our river.

So back on topic. Anyone know if the ballast pumps we use could be used for such a device, or would they not provide enough water pressure?

My friend's hot/cold water shower has a "stream" setting on the shower head. We were getting about a 20ft range on that. i'm sure if you got a pump that had a little more power you could really get it out there.
Another thing we were considering was mounting one of those water balloon sling-shots across the tower. you could use the shower or hook in a line to one of the ballast pumps to fill the balloons and launch away.
I don't like to judge. But it just seems like jet skiers are a bunch of peckerheads. It's like the only way to have fun on a jet-ski is to annoy the heck out of other boaters.

20 ft range on a showerhead? Hmm.. that sounds like something I'd be interested in! Do other folks get the same sort of performance from their boat shower and any idea what kind of pump it is using?

                              Water cannon

Did anyone else have feedback on this. We have a 4th of July parade on the water this year and got drenched last year. I am thinking of tee'ing the ballast pump and putting a garden hose with a spray nozzle on it.
