    Lake Levels

OK, A month ago the ramps were closed because there wasn't enough water and now they are closed because there is too much water. I understand the need for flood control but miss living next to a controlled level lake. This will be a non-boating holiday weekend. What are you all paying for a slip with a lift? I think $570/month is too much!

Wow that's some level change in a month. Is there a problem with high water causing erosion?

Rain has been crazy here for the last few weeks. Pretty much anything near the DFW metro is over full, east is over full, south and west have come up decent amounts. I don't have a lift or slip but our lakehouse on whitney has a community ramp. Although the start of it is 4' under water currently the gravel road leading to it makes a great ramp. As long as it isn't storming saturday morning we'll be on the water. We drove around for a bit last saturday morning when it was 3' over and the lake was suprisingly clear. with little to no debris in the main lake. There was a little junk floating on the shore line but nothing terrible. Only bad part for us is the dock has been on the ground for 2-3 years and it didn't do to well when it started to float again.

As far as erosion from my personal experience yes.... Both roads down to our ramp are gravel and both are in bad shape. I have to creep down them at 2mph right now so I don't bounce the boat off the trailer. We had a huge rain last july that washed away one of the culverts that supports the road down to the ramp. We all have our fingers crossed it doesn't get worse. They built that "bridge" 50 years ago and the last few years haven't been kind to it.

Careful, I know a guy who nailed a log and ruined his I/O (and almost sank) on Grapevine last week. You can get a slip at SilverCreek for almost half that and add your own hydrohoist -just a thought.

It's strange not being on the water today. This morning would have been great, not too hot and a cloud cover for shade. Grapevine Lake is 19' over full pool and Lewisville is 11', with more rain coming tonight. Both lakes are closed. I wish we could send some of this water to you guys in Austin.

I can understand how someone ruined a boat on Grapevine right now, even the parks are under water. If you don't know that lake it's super dangerous, even the island is underwater. Picnic tables and trees are under, but not by much. You could not give me money to get on that lake right now. Go up to Eagle Mountain, it's full and not much debris in the water at all. We were out there last Sunday. Pretty brown water but it was good.

Can I just say that getting more things done around the house because the lakes are to full, in no way makes up for not getting on the water. Does anyone in DFW want to trade a hunting lease for boat slip? I may have to give up on hunting so I can afford to have the boat on the water. Also, I'll need a helicopter to get it on the lake in the first place. I miss the days in South Carolina of walking out the door of the house and down to the dock. Thanks for putting up with my lament.

Anyway It looks like this is the opportunity to try new waters, Eagle Mountain, PK and Cedar Creek here we come.

I'm gonna drag my boat back from Whitney in the next few weeks to do some upgrading. Have a buddies bachelor party in july on Cedar Creek and my wife's family has a place on PK so I'll be doing some traveling this summer. You can't even see our dock or ramp from waters edge on whitney right now.

We went to the lakehouse this weekend and pig hunted instead of being on the water.

Eagle Mountain was closed all weekend and expected to be closed all week. It shows 1.5' above full pool. How can that be causing issues? PK is too far...whining.

Eagle Mountain opened up this morning... From what I read the were concerned with debris.

I was out there Memorial Day and there was some, but not a ton. It came up a couple feet since then but can't imagine it's much worse that it was Memorial Day.
