    bunks for boat lift

Looking into getting a 216 from an acquaintance but need to know what size of bunks to use on our Hewitt cantilever lift. Our rep said it comes in 12 or 14 foot length and either would work. Which would be better? Gut tells me 14 but maybe there is a downfall to the bigger is better theory?

do you have a trailer for it? I would "mimic" what is on the trailer the best I could, figuring that is good enough to trailer it around, should be good enough to use on a lift.

Longer may not be better, as the hull is not really total flat (so some of the bunk may not be touching anyway), and I don't know what sea suctions or PP paddlewheels may get smashed in the process, but it should be easy to verify.

I have two Sunstream lifts 4000 with 10 foot and 6000 with 12 foot bunks. Both lift my 200 fine, I even lifted a G23 with the 4k briefly. The 12 foot bunks have about 1.5 foot not used when lifting my boat. Remember, the bow will not be supported by the bunks. Given the 210 is only a foot longer I'd say it should make no difference. If the capacity of your new lift will handle a bigger boat than you have, then you may consider the 14 ' bunks.

Just be sure to account for a longer bunk, meaning - fabricate some sort if bow stop. If you have your bunks to long at the stern - you risk a prop hitting if you drift a little when putting it on the lift.
