Nacimiento or San Antonio Lakes (Central California)

The family and I are looking to go to either one of these Lakes this summer and are trying to decide on which on to camp (with our RV) at. We have been to Nacimiento once (just for the day) and liked it. We have not camped (RV) at either and are trying to get people's preference. We are going with another family and are just not sure which one would be better.

We are looking for full hookups, nice campgrounds, good beaches, family friendly...

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Justin

RE: Nacimiento or San Antonio Lakes (Central California)

Justin- If you are looking for full hook ups then you are better off going to San Antonio. Hook ups at Nacimiento are limited and are not close to the water compared to SA. If you get the right one you can leave your boat in and still be able to see it from your camp site. Either lake you can't go wrong with otherwise, SA is at 92% right now and Naci is at 89% so both lakes are full. I have a house at Naci so I stay pretty current with lake levels. Let me know if you have any other ????

Justin ... It has been a number years since I have been to either, but would agree with most everything 01 said. My preference would be Naci only because there are more fingers to get out of the wind. It was my experience though that it was also more crowded. We used to go to San Antonio every fall and it was great ... water was still warm and NO people and we had glass everyday, all day! It was not uncommon for us to be the ONLY boat on the lake mid-week! Might be something to consider unless you have kids in school. Which ever ... have a great time.

Thanks for the feedback...I did like all the beaches on Nacimiento, as well as the coves. Are there the same amount of beaches at both lakes? With kids (2 and 4), a good beach is important. I guess what I am reading is you can't go wrong with either one...

        Thanks for the info...

I would have to say no, both lakes are not the same when it comes to beaches and coves. Naci has more actual beach area that isn't just dirt and coves are around every corner. SA has more shoreline that is useable because of all the camping sites. You could always camp in the hookups and drive over to Naci for day trips. From the south shore launch ramp it is about a 10 minute drive to Naci. Most of the shoreline at SA is not that sandy but with the water so high right now you will be hard pressed to find good area at either lake.
