Well the old DLP projection Samsung has finally been retired. After several in home repairs in 8 years were finally giving up on it. We've brought two news home now and just can't seem to find one we like. Both have been UHD G14 classified and more other abreveations for options than I can repeat. We can't see spending more than 2k on a TV as we would rather be outside. The issue I'm having is the pictures now days look really odd. Like animated and cartoonish. Hard to explain but they just don't have the same picture as the older ones. Anyone else have this issue and had any luck finding a 2k fix?

For the sports , I love my hockey , and the bright room I really love Samsung.
As far as the animation. There are some settings you adjust to tone that down a bit. You also have a "break in period" w new tv's. The picture quality will get better after a week or so. The tv's have so many adjustments and tweaks nowadays you almost need a professional to come and adjust them all. It's not a simple pull out of the box and go.Last edited by swatguy; 05-15-2016, 05:39 PM.

Is this the problem? http://www.cnet.com/news/what-is-the-soap-opera-effect/ I know that I can't stand this being on, it does make the picture too cartoonish...

Vizio while a great price point w features is not a crisp picture at all. I don't care what consumer reports and the experts say. I bought 3 different models based in all those reviews over the years. Every one has gone straight back. Even my 12 yr old daughter could tell the difference when we bought the most recent 32inch for her room. It went back and grabbed another Samsung on Closeout.Last edited by swatguy; 05-15-2016, 07:37 PM.

I spent a few hours at Costco a few months back going back and fourth between the Samsung, Sony Bravia and Vizios. I originally wanted the 80" Vizio they have at the entrance to get your attention, its HUGE and it looks great when you just walk by it, but if you stand there for a bit, you can start to notice how not "crisp" the picture was compared to the rest of the TVs. I ended up getting a 75" Samsung that is 4K and I bought Costco's extended warranty to make it a full 5 year warranty and figure if it breaks, I will just get a replacement for it.
