    Centurion Ri217 and Ri237

Has anyone had any personal experience with either of these new boat models. I remember seeing them when Jeff announced that CC purchased Centurion. They look pretty good, but what amazed me was the ballast capacity (over 5000#) and the speed of the Ram Fill. I haven't been in a Centurion for a while, but had a couple friends that had Centurions a few years back. They weren't as luxurious as a Nautique, but they were VERY solid boats (more so than my old Malibu I would say). I just didn't like the wakeboard wake. You could never seem to get rid of the lip at the peak of the wake.

    Anway, just curious.

I went on a demo right before Memorial day with a friend. We demoed the RI217 which is a very nice boat but the wake was not very good in my opinion.

Let me clarify this. Ram fill is sweet and fills up pretty fast, that was a big plus. The wake albeit looked nice and tall I had a tough time surfing it. I had to ride really close to the back of the boat due to the wave having little push even though it was tall. I know that sounds odd but that was my experience. I like to ride 15-20 feet from the boat and move back and forth. This boat had the 343 engine and it was screaming at 4,200 RPM at 11.5 MPH and was $119.9K For that price I'd buy a used G23 all day.

If you're looking for a bigger boat I think you'll be best served with the 230 or G23.

IMO, the 230 is a understated boat when it comes to wake, and surf... I know there is cavernous room in the G boats, but the 230 has much more than the 210 IMO...

Shade....I do not have an experience with the 210 but one with NSS ought do quite well.

If you like your Nautique I think you'd feel like the Centurion is a step down.

Thanks Joe. I was just curious. I am thinking about a new boat maybe next year. I like the size of my 210 because I have to store my boat in a storage building near the lake. That means that I trailer my boat to and from the lake every time we go out. I also have to back it into the storage unit so the size of a G23 scares me a little. Well maybe a lot. The other thing is I have a half ton truck and don't really want to have to buy more truck just tow a G23. So I've been looking at 230s, G21s, and even 210s. I kinda like the smaller size of the 210 because we take some road trips as well and the 210 is fairly easy to tow. I know the 210 obviously gives up a lot when compared to the G boats, but towing and storing a G seems like it could be difficult. Having said all that I can't seem to get my 210 to make a good surf wave. This may be user error, but I might need more boat....???

Couldn't agree more. I love my 230 and I've got that wake DIALED.

We've got a 230 and I ve always wondered how much better the wave is on a g21 or 23. I really like the seadek lockers and all of the amenities on the g and one would think that they would ride better than a 210 or 230. All that said for the money if the wave was not emensly better than a 230 I wouldn't pay the extra. I could agree more w Shag and Mark the 230 dialed in is impressive to say the least.

The 230 is a much better looking boat than the G boats IMO too. I'm probably gonna spring for a new boat next year. Need to decide between a 210 and a 230. I really like the extra room in a 230, but the smaller size of the 210 has some benefits because we trailer a lot.

I'm curious about this too. I've been holding out for a left over 2016 purchase in 2017 because I want a boat with JL audio, but a redesign may cause me to wait a little longer.

I wish I had waited for a 16 for the JL stuff. Ended up swapping everything to JL and love it. Did the 16s get the direct injection engines as well? I know the got the seat and the Linc upgrade for pebble.

Yes, drivers seat, JL, and DI engines are available in 2016. Most 210s and 230s that I see for sale unfortunately have the 343 though.

Thought I'd comment on the OP about the Ri237. We demoed one last week with a buddy who was in the market for a new ride. Well I don't have much good to say about it except the wave was pretty good for surf. While it's deeper than the 230 it was also narrower which made for a pretty good ride on rough water. It could help to notice how cheap things were inside. The glove box door was a thin piece of acrylic that just laid over a hole and flopped around the intire time, as well as the helm seat creaking and popping on any move from driver or wave. Every seat was just laid on top of box with no hinges and storage under seats was a joke! The sales guy made a comment about how much more room that it had under seats than prior years. I bet the storage was 8 maybe 10 inches deep under seats. The outside was beautiful but had cheap plastic vent covers with no step stickers on them. Not sure they quite have the safety functions figured out yet either. We took off with cruise on and my buddy pulled back to clear the cruise and then got back on it after turning off and boat come up on plan and the surf tab deploys! Yep 20 mph and a hard list!! My buddy about pissed himself. Set it back down, hit neutral, and took off again with no issues. I couldnt believe the tab would deploy at that high of speed but it did. Funny thing is that you could buy a nice G for what they were asking for this thing and could have bought a really nice used G for what they wanted with all the "discounts" they were offering. To me it's way over priced and should be more like an MB but to be honest I have three friends with MBs and I think they are a more solid boat. Boat has really good appeal but poor execution and engineering. I will say the glass and gel work is awesome and better than Nautique in my opinion. This design engineered and built by Nautique would be sick.

Thanks for the review. They look like nice boats, after hearing your thoughts about quality especially on the interior I think I would be disappointed.
