    Newer Supra Boats?

I've been seeing more and more new Supras at my lake and I have to say they look really good. I just saw a test of the Supra SA 400-550 in Wakeboard Magazine and thought, Wow Supras have come along way! Maybe not a Nautique, but I think I would buy a Supra over a MC.

Has anyone ridden/surfed behind a new Supra SA? Just curious how the wake/wave is.

I totally agree. Supra has come a long way. I almost bought a SE550 before we bought the G23. I just couldn't talk myself in to buying a first year boat with a first year engine from Ford/Indmar. The wave was incredible on that SE.

I have not ridden in the new SA. There was a major change to the SA in 2015. Factory tour is incredible.....lots of lean manufacturing practices in use.

Do you mean for equal price you would take a Supra over a MC?

I'd have to surf an X23 before I could say for sure. The surf wave on the Supra SE is superior. I have not ridden the new SA.

I love my G and never regretted buying it. I've bought three boats in four years and the G is a keeper.

I would expect to pay less for a Supra than a MC, but I was mostly making that statement based on aesthetics alone. I'm not a big fan of the styling direction MC has taken in last several years. I used to think MC made some of the best looking boats, but I'm not a fan of the curved or sweeping rub rail.

The review of the SA 400-550 in Wakeboard Mag was very positive especially about the wake.

Good info here. I'm curious what the price difference would be between comparably equipped 21 or 23 foot Nautique vs similar Supras. I don't like the fact that Supra still uses carpet. I said I would never own another boat with carpet after I sold my Malibu.

I'm sure you can get seadek or something put in a supra. Gatorstep even. I'm guessing you could work that into a new boat deal.

IME, supras have really jumped up in price as well. Depending on your location, you would probably be close in price if you went 230/210/GS20 to any supra. I think a G would be more though. But hey, you get what you pay for.

I can say this It's kinda funny the Supra SG ( which is a 23'6 ) and the SE ( which is a 24'7 ). If you buy a SG and you want the 450 Raptor motor it's a $7k up charge. If you buy the SE it comes automatically with the Raptor 450. The price difference is only $1000 difference.

After really thinking about buying a new boat I ended up with a 2016 Supra SE that had 70 hours and it really clean.

Even fits in my 8 foot garage with the triple axel trailer.

Nice looking boat. I like the colors. That's a big boat! What made you decide to go with a Supra over a G boat? Did price impact your decision? Overall, what do you think about build quality between Nautique and Supra. I don't have any wakeboat dealers near me to compare different manufacturer's products.

I have owned 5 Nautiques in the last 20 years and I never thought of looking at other brands.

Price was a big thing a G23 loaded similar was about $25-30k more. The quality of the Supra's are very close to Nautique I think personally at this point. Another thing is that the responsiveness and agility to turns was a big thing it drives like a inboard. I can do a 360 with the Supra which is very close to a 25 foot boat 😬 don't think a G25 could do that.

Good thread a lot of people chimed in on that helped me.

                              Dave,

Thanks for the write up. I still haven't eliminated Supra from my next boat purchase. I will be in the market for a much smaller boat than you bought. I'm currently considering a GS20 as well. I agree with you that the bigger Nautiques are about priced out of my budget. Do you worry about less name recognition with Supra when it comes time to sell?

I know you haven't had the boat long so I would like to hear your likes and dislikes with Supra as you get some more hours with the boat.
