Dog Owners?

How many take your dogs with you on your boat... I'm just curious how you trained them... I have a Shar-pei (9months) that I want to take out with us and need some pointers?

I have 2 labs that are pretty quiet but they go crazy when they see me jumping behind the boat. Barking and howling away. Pretty funny, and then they fight to retrieve the handle when the run is over. Good luck

i am concerned about damage to the vinyl. if the dog ALWAYS stayed on the carpet it would be one things, but we'll see how that goes. i am told to do their claws with a dremel tool to keep them short and dull. at least my weimaraner's hair will blend in to the carpet.

We have two labs as well. One black and one yellow. Both look bad on the gray carpet. I agree with speck on one of my major issues, the vynal. Every time they walk from the platform to inside over the rear seet and storage I cringe looking at their nails on the vynal. Every time though, they make it over and there is no tear. Now, from seeing it happen so many times, I am convinced the vynal is strong enough that I don't need to worry so much about it, esp. not as much as people think you need to worry. Second issue of mine is the cleaning. I have to detail the boat at least every two weeks to keep the floor visible. Getting hair out of the carpet is a bi*ch and takes a lot of time going back and fourth on your hands and knees w/ the vacume. In the end, the carpet is clean and the vynal has no tears, so it all works out...

i agree. Dogs don't walk on their nails, every now and then you may get a scuff or light scratch, but most dogs love the water and thus boats. bring em out.

What's more important, worrying about hair and tears or hanging out with your family on the lake. Take the dogs and vacuum a little more. Doesn't matter what color the interior is, because I have a black and yellow lab that leave hair everywhere.
