Spring break, how far south do we need to go?

if we wanted to rent a house for Spring Break, first week of April, how far south would we need to go to get warm enough water? I'd appreciate any lake suggestions. Would be pulling from Virginia.

Depends on what you consider warm enough. I live in Georgia and I think the water is still pretty cold the first week in April. The water will probably be anywhere from 60-70 degrees here. It depends on how cold it has been in the preceding weeks. I would say you need to go all the way to Florida.

I agree with Evening Shade. Depending on what you consider comfortable water temperatures, The water in GA at least around Atlanta, is still fairly chilly. Florida would probably be your best bet. Good luck!

One state south, NC. Rode last week and will likely hit the water again in March.

We are in NC near the VA border and will be in the water by March.

It all depends on what you consider warm. Our lake is heated by a power plant and shallow which keeps us on the water more.

I'd expect Charleston and south to be warm enough, probably wetsuit though. Kinda hard to predict, in Orlando, one year I was in a wet suit in September to April, last year, only needed a wetsuit during January-Feb.

We live in north Florida and face this question every year. After extensive research last year and many previous years of frustration, we determined that anything south of Orlando is great. ( There is a reason why Winter Haven is known as the birthplace of water skiing). There are many lakes around Winter Haven and plenty of houses for rent on the water where you can beach your boat. (Look on VRBO). Also, the original group from Cypress Gardens still have a ski show once per month in downtown Winter Haven (that is a must-see if the timing works out).

Come to Texas and ride the trinity river where it dumps into lake Livingston. 22 miles of deep glass water heading upstream. Get a room a Bethy creek resort and you can keep your boat on the water. Sam Houston state university is only 20 miles away so you can party there at night too.
