So being that my one day off was Sunday, and it was 90+ degrees, we decided to brave the lake with the other crazies as I'm sure a lot of you did. Man, are you kidding me? The traffic on the water was ridiculous and especially by those that had no idea how to drive or have any respect for other boats. We basically anchored down and watched the nuts go by until it got so rough that driving turned out to be more of a workout than pleasure. So fustrating during a holiday weekend, but when you only get one day off to go, you try to take some advantage of it. I won't even start to rage on the tubers or the bass boats with a family of 10 on board or the half naked drunk ladies, well that part I didn't mind of course. How was the traffic on your water?

RE: Weekend crowds
A long time ago we decided it wasn't worth it trying to go to the lake on a holiday weekend. Can't ski for watching out for the weekend wallies who only go on Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. I work shift work so I have time off during the week and don't have to deal with large crowds.

I agree with Jesse1,
I have only been out to our local lake once durring a holiday weekend and I will never do it again. Too many drunk people who have no regard for others. I just use my holiday weekend to do small projects around the house or on the boat.

This has been the first summer holiday weekend I have spent home, so I decided to venture to the local lake for a cruise. It was not fun...crowded lauch, crowded lake, crazy people doing crazy stuff. It is a good reminder how nice northern Wisconsin is. Plenty of lakes up there, it can be busy, but nothing like SE Wisconsin. I ended up with some quality time with my truck and boat in the driveway.

I was surprised today. I expected every cig. boat and mini-yacht to be on my lake today, with some wind. But, it was glass... all day almost. Just a couple of rollers here and there, and that was it. No wind, only fog and calm water, and some 80+ degrees as well. The key: 6am :-) Good Memorial Day..I Nautique, therefore I am.

We had a nasty uninvited guest for Memorial weekend at the Colorado River. Not the old man from the sea, thats my partners dad protecting the flag... The fire started late Saturday night and burned until Monday morning.
