Lake lumps are parking everywhere in our lake

So we were out today and made our way to an area of our lake where the wake boats hang out. We were there early and when we got there we were the only ones. As it got later in the day more and more people kept pulling in and parking to swim right in the lane of traffic up by the cliffs. We kept pushing ourselves further and further out into the open water and higher traffic area until it made me feel uncomfortable. I asked my wife to get us back in towards the cliffs, well sure enough I went down and here comes a guy on a jetski and he starts spewing some junk about being underway too close to the people swimming and out of respect I listened to him till he completed his argument. Then I apologized and asked him to just listen to my side... I was there first and he parked there knowing it was where I was riding. there's several swim areas that are better places to park and swim, and he saw with his own eyes that I tried to move further out and it was too rough and too much traffic. So rather than argue I told him it's fine.. To solve the issue we will call it a day and head in so he can swim in the middle of the lake. Then... Like what I will call our typical lake douche .. He said man you don't have to do that... You can come tie up with us and hang out. Shocker... He and his buddies were all out there drinking.

I'm going to call and talk with the lake patrol about it because I honestly am bothered by the fact that this is not the first time we have had to stop our lake day short because the drinkers and party people feel that they need to go find a remote place to park and swim instead of using the swim areas or the two coves where people are encouraged to anchor up and hang out. They are literally trying to park in every decently wind protected area. I'm all for everyone having an opportunity to enjoy the lake, but to me this is like parking on the street in front of a parking lot and then standing in the street yelling at cars going by... It's nuts.

Now that I've had my time to complain.... Are any of you having issues? If so, what do you do?

My lake is a mess. I go early or late after 10am or before 7pm there is little chance of riding on a weekend unless we are fortunate enough to get a little rain to clear the lakes.

don't even try it weekend afternoons. My gripe is the fisherman that parks it in the middle of the channel.

Rude behavior is the norm now . Too many peeps without a clue of the rules on the water not to mention driving educate. It used to be Wave Runners and Tubers were the biggest assault on good water . Now the same people that bitched about all the butter cutters in the ski cove are driving gigantic surf boats in the same ski cove. Hears a thought YOU DON'T NEED GLASS TO SURF. If you want to buy a boat the size of the Queen Mary and weights as much as a cabin cruiser then take it to the areas where it wont disturb people that need good water to do their sport [ ski , wakeboard ,wakeskate ext] . The lake restrictions are just starting now if you don't govern yourself the government will do it for you in a way you wont like so much.

We call them trolls ... They all tie up on the supports for the overpass that splits our lake and force everyone else to pass under one or two 50' spans

Sounds like you handled it well. We have the same problem here. Even folks with wake boats will decide they have had enough and start floating right in the lane they were just riding in.

Inconsiderate or clueless people drive me crazy. Apparently the best place to fish on our 265 acre lake on early Saturday mornings is exactly at the end of our ski course. Really they don't see boats turning around there every time we are out. Several wait for us to go back up the course and then zoom in there and drop an anchor. Someday I'm expecting road rage to convert to lake rage.

The surfing thing is like skateboards. Twenty years ago all the old people bitched about it and now the government uses tax dollars from the people who bitched to build shrines to them called skate parks. I can't wait till they designate water sports lakes and designate them for no parking... I would drive further to know people were actually using it for recreation.

My 2 cents as far as lake restrictions go, As a business man.. Seriously put real thought into this plan. Push the young people out of a recreation area so the the old guys can sit around and drink and fish there, and then get mad twenty years from now when the property values are in the dumps and the area goes to pot because nobody wants to live around a bunch of old people who want the lake to themselves. It will cause collapse and disrepair to the public lake system. We will all lose.

My real issue isn't with anyone's wake, nor them with mine. It's truly about people wanting to populate the shoreline to drink, and push people trying to recreate into the traffic where people who have been drinking all day are running there Baja boats thru trying to impress the ladies. I would never ask anyone to put a rider out there... But every time I hear people say... Stick the surfers out there.... Man... Really?

I want to let you all of you know that my intention is not to make anyone mad or attack anyone on this. This is no different to me than sitting down at the donut shop and drinking coffee and talking thru what's going on in the world with a group of good friends. The guy that came up to me on the lake was decent enough about it. He expressed his issue and then let me explain mine. My issue was that he came into the area I was using...parked there.... and then got mad at me. I'm not mad at him for wanting his family to be safe and protect his boat, but I do believe that he should have gone to one of the several designated no wake swim areas to do that. Instead he chose to go out and claim jump a public area. All I'm looking to do is hear everyone else's thoughts

Two weekends ago, guys were in a boat fishing and casting 50 feet off the boat landing. I had all I could do to avoid wrapping fishing line around the prop. Last weekend, go to family cottage with smaller lake. Larger camp up there drives 2 ski nautiques pulling 4 kids on 2 tubes all day long at 30+ miles and hour. The kids fall off every 100 feet cause they're going way to fast. They actually passed me once and whipped the tubes right in front of me, I thought I was going the kill someone. Come home and back up to the launch by my house and a minivan with a kayak pulls up before I can step out to unhook the winch. Idiots are everywhere!

No different out West, We ski from 7:00 AM to maybe 11:30 AM on a good day and I live in a very remote part of California. If we are planning an all dayer we will anchor out of the way, possibly go to shore to wait and see if the lake will settle down for an evening set. Other wise we pull out of the water between 10:30 and 11:30 AM.

It is all in the way you think about it. My wife and I had to change our boating/ski routine about 10 years ago do to inconsiderate people. You are not going to change the inconsiderate people and they are the majority. You do not want the government creating more laws. So, you have control over how you choose to go about boating. You may need to choose to be at the lake early as you stated you did, then leave as the majority are showing up as my family does. That way we are able to clean the boat, put it away, and mow the lawn, then have a party on the patio with people we invite instead of people who decide to anchor next to you.

My wife says I am a magnet. People see the rooster tail spray from my ski from across the lake and must think WOW that area must have good water, lets go anchor over there or tube in that area. Good luck

the term we use around here is "weekend wallies" and every captain's name is wally or walter. no one should be anchoring in the main body of the water unless your lake is remote or desolate.

The reality is even on private lakes like where I live people do what they like until regulated. People here complain about the rules, I dislike the restrictions but it has become necessary. We have outlawed plowing water and any boats with ballast. 20 foot size limit. why? watch $20k of beach sand disappear in two years as the wake rollers push a two foot wall of water through the front yards. Some folks installed sea walls which is the worst for skiers as the wakes bounce back and forth across the lake. We only ski until 10 am and before dusk. and even on a private lake someone will screw it up for the rest of us as they complain about that to their friends that everyone drives too fast. as they parade around the lake with their bow in the air pulling their grandchild at 15 mph on a tube larger than the boat.

We have almost given up on wake boarding because it is to hard to find good water and when we have it there is usually someone parked in the middle of the lane. The mud holes (lakes) in the DFW have no protection from the wind or inconsiderate people. Also, no power turns is one of my favorite places to send people to on the web. If I could work the weekends and have a couple of weekdays off life on the water would be better.
