Does anyone have any personal experience with grass reinforcement mesh? There is a product called GrassProtecta that is supposed to create a much more stable ground surface to drive on and helps prevent ruts an damage to the grass. Its made of HDPE and comes in rolls.
To install it, you simply cut the grass very short and then roll it out over the area you want to protect and secure with large metal pins that look like huge staples. The blades of grass then grow through the holes in the mesh and essentially lock the mesh in place. Eventually you can't even see the mesh once the grass has grown in well. You can even mow over it once it has matured which takes about a month.
I'm looking for some way to protect the grass at my lake house. I have a boat ramp on property, but I have to drive through grass to use it. I'm just curious if anyone has ever used this type of product and if it really will protect the ground and prevent ruts from forming? I'm trying find an alternative to concrete.
