    refurbishing wooden ski

I bought my mom an old wooden ski off e-bay. when it arrived it didn't look as good as it did in the pictures. Some of the coating is coming off the edges and there are a few round spots that are like cracks in the coating on the top. Does anybody know how to go about refinishing the ski?? What type of finish is actually used??

    RE: refurbishing wooden ski

It depends on how old it is and who the manufacturer was. I woulfd try to fill the spots with urethane in several thin coats. Then you could try snading sanding and applying a thin coat over the whole ski. I would try coating a small spot next to the fin one the bottom first to see if it hardens and doesn't soften the finish already on. A good woodworking store might also be able to help you fiure out the current coating. Good Luck

It's a White Bear ski. But I am not sure how old it is. I will try some furniture re-finishing stores.

      ThankSS
