    Tige Boats

Hey guys looking for some advice for a friend. He has and inboard/outboard boat currently and is looking to make the move to a V-drive inboard for surfing/wakeboarding. He doesn't really ski.

He is really leaning toward Tige because price point and the fact that we have a Tige dealer right here at Lake Greenwood, SC. He specifically likes the R1 or Z1, as he likes the traditional bow and the 21' boat will fit in his slip.

So he was asking me about Tige boats and what I thought about them. I really don't know anything about Tige and have only seen them from a distance so I told him I would ask on PN.

Please give me your impression of Tige boats, good, bad, or indifferent.

    TIA

Probably won't get too many on here to say anything good about the Tige brand, but I will vouch for them. I've owned 3 different Tige boats over the past 10 years before switching over to a G23. I have nothing bad to say about the Tige brand and in fact think they have and always will have a great product. Their factory to dealer support is excellent and they have a family type following that goes with the brand.

The R21 or Z1 is a great surf boat and is easily capable of any water sport your friend desires. The surf wave is pretty good and even other recreation wakes it creates are going to be plentiful for the weekender. That R21 is basically the Z1 with just a cheaper tower and less bling on the interior. Otherwise its the same boat for way less.

If wanting more info go to tigeowners.com and you will get less crickets on there about the boats Tige has to offer. Tige has an excellent warranty and they will stand behind it so no worries there either. In the end like any brand a good dealer is worth more than anything when deciding brands!

Dealer support is a huge part of having a great ownership experience, and that dealer is awesome. Ive known them about 12 years now and they have serviced my Tige. Been around the brand for since I got my 06. Would own another.

Is there a reason he's looking at the 21? I asked because if he's in the Z1 price range but would be happy with the simple appointments of the R21, consider the R23. Not many people say "my boat is too big". Dont need a large engine with that area's elevations. Max ballast ans TAPS-3 and its a killer surf machine.

Like any other brand, they have their issues, thats why a good dealer is so important.

So you are referring to Gunnel's Marine. I've never had any dealings with them, but my buddy likes the idea of having the servicing dealer practically right in his back yard. I have to admit that that sounds appealing to me as well, especially if they are as good as you say.

My buddy is looking at boats 21ft or less because that's as big as will fit in his garage.

Thanks for the feed back. Sounds like Tige is a solid boat and brand that I could recommend to by buddy.

Did you feel like your Tiges held their value well?

Yes tige is solid and they have an extremely well built boat, and listen to their customers. Only reason I switched was their top model the RZX3 and the new Zx5 just didn't ride as nice as a G23 in chop. And a few other minor things but trust me they are minor! Mainly just wanted a switch and have always loved the G looks.

Yes tige will hold its value well or as good as any other considered "top brands". Lost 15k on a brand new Z3 over a 4 year period so can't complain.

Tige definitely makes a very solid boat, Nautique and Tige are definitely the most thought after build structurally. The new 18 r series puts value to a new level with all the new features.

Like others have said it’s cones down to dealer service or factory support.

I’ve owned 2 and have enjoyed both, yes I’ve had warranty problems but with a hand made boat it’s what you expect. Toured both Tige and Nautique factories, impressed with both.

Thanks for all the feed back.

I never really considered a Tige, but after hearing that they build a solid boat that they stand behind and the local dealer is very good, I may give them a look next time I'm in the market.

Based on this positive feed back my buddy has decided to purchase a Tige.
