        Hmm... snake awareness camera. That has a nice ring to it. Sounds like about a $2,000 option. A must-have for those people near rattlesnake country.

          I am not a snake expert but after my snake encounter I did some research. I think poisonous snakes can not go under water. Only NON poisonous snakes can submerge. Either way I would easily pay 2k for a a snake detector or start carrying my .45 on the boat.

              Water Moccasins (Cottonmouths) can absolutely swim and bite underwater. Fish are one of their diet staples.

                Yeah, I decided to not tell my crew (wife and daughters) about this thread. Last week I was in the water near the platform waiting for the waves to settle and my wife says “SNAKE!” and pointed near the bow. I hustled out of the water just in time to see a 2-3’ snake dive under water. We circled around the area but didn’t see him again. This is only the second snake I have seen while skiing and the last was about 20 years ago in PA. We live in TN now.
