Yep, you will notice that it has a pcm vdrive and ballast system.

Curious to know what you Nautique boat owner surfers think of this whole thing.

Obviously, Gonna be worse on lake if pontoon owners start surfing at all, especially with ballast.


A lais·sez-faire capitalist would generally believe that things gravitate to their best use thru a free market. So it is in pcm best interest to sell to a pontoon mfgr, before someone else does. But yet this could create less demand for nautique in terms of people buying boats to surf. All the while, the lake get more crowded with surfers, forcing out other uses of the lake...???

Couple years ago they started installing outboards backwards so they could surf behind them. Don’t see that that has had a big impact on the market-likely cause the wake sucks. I also saw some gimmick the other day where you can surf behind a jet boat but the wake looked terrible. Manufacturers are recognizing the demand for people wanting to surf and doing their best to join the game. Build quality, wake quality, and price will dictate what will happen. I, for one, love the competition as it should be good for consumers. I don’t love pontoons but if they build a reliable one with a great wake, features, and high quality for $80k I’d be all over it like stink on a monkey. Love my nautique but the bank account is not bottomless.

Well maybe. This one is difficult to gauge. They're building a $70,000 pontoon boat which apparently surfs. I would think the market for that is pretty small. People buy pontoon boats because they're practical and fairly inexpensive. Now I know there are some super-luxury pontoon boats that get up into this price range, but they're on the extreme end. The average price is much lower than that.

It will be interesting how this design plays out and whether it is will be a success or a failure, but I like the concept .

Looks more like a G25 with a pontoon top deck. Everybody is trying to build something just as good . Seems to me the only thing they match is the price,

But it is not a pontoon surf boat. The next generation of surf boats is just beginning. Pack them up (20 plus) with tons of folks for under $80,000. Nobody has this

It's not a v-drive by Chaparral, just a reversed prop on the outdrive. I've been wondering what the wave is like on those

Correct me if I am wrong but it takes more than V Drive and ballast to create a good surf wave, the shape of the hull plays a big part of it to be good.

I would not disagree . I guess only time will tell whether these pontoon surf boats will be a success or a complete failure . It does have a great price point to appeal to a wide audience plus the large passenger capacity. I do like the concept although.
