Dock covering

The decking on our dock is IPE and it gets really hot. Does anyone know of a good solution like a mat or covering that would keep kids from burning their feet on a hot day?

IPE is really hot in the sun....I'm guessing you like the color of the deck? We covered our entire dock in white roofing elastamor. It reflects the sun and stays cool enough in really hot temperatures to actually lay on it. People use it on their roofs to keep the temperature down inside houses, this stuff works great. 5 gallon drum at home depot $75

I’m in the process of installing ipe on a dock. I’ve been barefoot on it on 100 degree days and haven’t noticed it being too hot to handle. I’m a tender-foot too. Are you sure the wood is ipe?
