This isn't exactly a "youngun on my board". But, here's how all three of my boys learned to barefoot. This one is learning this summer at 5. He started on a plastic "Zip Sled" at 3. He should be able to go without the handle by next summer.

Hey,
I got the youngun up today with me on the board! It was a spur of the moment thing, and it took me three to get him up with me, but we went for a five minute ride. He had a blast and was hoopin' it up while we were riding. We did a couple of wake crossings and a tiny little jump.
One thing I noticed, we had to ride faster than I probably wanted to with him, about 20mph. I think if I had the next size board it wouldn't be a problem.
thanks for all of the posts, next time pix!2008 230 TE-ZR6

I know this is an old post - but I figured this would be better than starting a new thread
Here's my little guy - enjoying the butter.... this was last summer - he'll be 7 in May -
This is why I've got to kick it up a notch - they'll be out skiing/riding me if I don't get with it.....

YOU EVER SEEN WHAT A FOIL CAN DO TO SOMEONES HEAD. DO THAT KID A FAVOR AND BUY HIM A HELMET. RIDING A FOIL WITHOUT A HELMET IS NUTS RIDING DOUBLE WITH A YOUNGSTER AND NO HELMET IS JUST DOWN RIGHT F***ING STUPID. I DONT CARE HOW GOOD YOU THINK YOU ARE ON THAT FOIL ATLEAST PROTECT YOUR KID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its great to see kids getting into the sport but teach them the right way=the safe way.

i had both of mine on the board with me this summer, and by the end they were both surfing on their own. i personally think it is dangerous it have kids stand in the middle of a wakeboard since there is no grip there and their foot could slip and get sliced on the boot mounting hardware. the surfer is safer and easy to fall from safely. the boy is 5 and the girl 7

I have had our male since he was 8 weeks old and we rescued our female about 4 years ago. I highly recommend rescuing a Weim.
Good Luck!
