We had a storm with a burst-cell or mini-tornado near us. Flipped over my 24' pontoon dock and walkways. It also caused several trees to fall on cottages. Trees that are 4' in diameter at the base. No one was hurt.

No kidding. My buddies, 3 tow straps and my Nautique flipped it back over. I repaired my walkways and was back in business.
That pole in the transom is a 20' section of well pipe. Thick wall, heavy a$$ pipe. Mother Nature flipped everything upside down including the pipe still in the pipe holder. No cameras or witnesses.
Our neighbors had 2 trees fall onto their cottage. Other neighbors had minor damage.

Crazy. Our neighbor had her pontoon flipped about 2 weeks ago. Thankfully, we hadn't put my MIL's pontoon in the water yet.
A number of years ago, I awoke to a middle of the night storm. It didn't seem out of the ordinary, so I just went back to sleep. When I got up the next morning, the dock was upside down, and the pontoon lift was about 100' down the shore and 50' father off shore with the canopy collapsed. I'm not sure how we didn't hear that happen. I had pulled the pontoon out of the lake the day before and hauled it in for some repairs--not sure if having it on the lift would have been better or worse.

I'm assuming wind and water pressure have a combining effect to make things like docks and pontoons flip over.
My neighbor has 2 pontoons end to end as his dock. Full of pressure treated lumber. They have to be heavy as can be. Both were pushed up river from the storm by several feet. Poles and all. Crazy.
