Since we don’t live on the water, we have to trailer the boat. So it’s automatically dirty before you even get there. I’m not a fan of shoes on the boat. We generally take them off an stow them when we get on. Food is fine. Usually packing the cooler with water, beer and sodas. Of course Fried Chicken and fruit gets picked up on the way to the landing. Rule is. You spill it, you clean it. Boat get washed when we get home, or at least before it gets put away. Boats come with built in coolers for a reason, use ‘em.

I have gotten less and less strict over the years as the kids have gotten older.

I had the standard no Doritos , Cheetos , etc cheesy fingers and no red juices rules during the young years. But once they were in their teens I backed off and it was just no red dyed juices. I picked up decent 12v plug-in vacuum and just run that if need be. Part of the reason I still love snap out carpet instead of Sea-deck.

We love some boat snacks, lunch during a long day out, and sunset dinners. But a towel comes out to cover the folded sliding bench seat (aka, the 'dinner table'), and we _strictly_ enforce bturner 's rules!

Boat was meant for living. We live big. Food included.

We eat on our boat, but I’m particular about allowable snacks. I’d have less issue with pizza than with some of the crumbly cookie/snacks that kids want to eat. My only other rule is if you eat you clean up after yourself, or if it’s a kid their parent is on the hook. I hate scraping crumbs out of cracks, especially if they’ve gotten wet and mushy.

I see a side hustle opportunity. Does anyone want to rent out my dog for 15 minutes...
