    Boat lift question…

    Hey all -

We just got a boat lift (Float-Air, 4-corner, 8000lb capacity) for our slip at the local marina. This is our first lift as we normally just trailer the boat.

Being that we’re newbs here… is it normal for the lift to rise up quickly and (rather roughly) jostle the boat when it makes contact under water? We normally all get out and start raising it while a few of us hold the boat in the center. But once the lift bunks come in contact with the boat, it seems like it’s hitting pretty hard under the water. I’m worried it may cause damage over time.

Is this normal for pneumatic lifts? I’ve tried ‘feathering’ the motor a bit so it rises slower, but even with that, it’s a pretty strong jostle.

Am I overthinking this? Normal? Or call the lift company?

    Many thanks for the advice!

Once the tanks get enough air to float they come up quick... I doubt it could damage the boat though, think about the forces of just loading it onto a trailer (a controlled crash essentially).
