ORLANDO, FLA (January 8, 2007) —The Masters Steering Committee has released the invitation criteria for the 48th Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament® , sponsored by Correct Craft, to be held at Callaway Gardens® in Pine Mountain, Georgia, May 25-27, 2007.
The Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament is the world’s oldest and most prestigious water ski and wakeboard tournament. It is an invitation only event open only to the world’s most talented water sports athletes.
The Masters Committee meets annually to review the invitation criteria for the upcoming year's event due to the dynamic environment of professional water sports. The committee has developed a comprehensive list of criteria to ensure that the world's elite athletes are invited to compete in the 48th Masters.
Invitation criteria for the 48th Masters Water Ski Tournament include:
1. 2006 Defending Masters Event Champion.
2. Official IWSF World Record Holder as of March 1, 2007.
3. Current IWSF Water Ski Worlds Event Champions.
4. Top 10 men & top 8 women on final IWSF Elite Ranking Lists for Slalom; Top 8 for Jump & Tricks.
5. A winner of any Masters Approved IWSF Elite List Tournament after June 1, 2006 until April 1, 2007. (2007 Masters Committee approved: Events with a minimum prize purse in Women Slalom & Jump: US$10,000; Women Tricks: US$7,500; Men Slalom and Jump: US$15,000; and Men Tricks: US$12,000)
In accordance with the above criteria, the following international field of elite skiers is invited:
Men Slalom: William Asher, Jamie Beauchesne, Glenn Campbell, Wade Cox, Thomas Degasperi, Jodi Fisher, Chris Parrish, Nick Parsons, Drew Ross and Terry Winter.
Men Jump: Ryan Dodd, Kyle Eade, Scot Ellis, Ryan Fitts, Freddy Krueger, Mark Lane, Jaret Llewellyn and Jason Seels.
Men Tricks: Richard Abelson, Oleg Deviatovski, Russell Gay, Javier Julio, Nicolas LeForestier, Jaret Llewellyn, Jimmy Siemers and Alexei Zhernosek.
Women Slalom: Sarah Green, Natalie Hamrick, Geraldine Jamin, Regina Jaquess, Kristi Overton Johnson, Jill Knutson, Clementine Lucine, Michelle Simpson and Karen Truelove.
Women Trick: Angeliki Andriopoulou, Danyelle Bennett, Rhoni Barton-Bischoff, Michale Briant, Regina Jaquess, Maria Camila Linares, Clementine Lucine and Mandy Nightingale.
Women Jump: Angeliki Andriopoulou, Rhoni Barton-Bischoff, June Fladborg, Jakalyn Hunter, Regina Jaquess, Clementine Lucine, Elena Milakova Thomas, Joy Todd and Maria Vibranietsova.
If a competitor was qualified to compete in the previous year’s Masters event missed competing during the 2006 qualifying season due to having suffered a broken bone, undergone surgery, or taken maternity leave, and they can demonstrate that they have returned to a comparable level of competition, then the Committee may consider them for invitation to the upcoming Masters tournament upon the athlete’s submission of a written request to the Tournament Coordinator, email JaniferEllis@CorrectCraft.com or via mail:
