Trucks (ext. cab or crew cab)

I'm looking at maybe getting a new Silverado truck (07) since I never owned a truck before I'm trying to find out what is better.. We have no kids so it will be mostly my wife and I in the truck most of the time.. plus we have other car if we need to take 4 people...

I'm looking at these to models

Ext Cab short bed LTZ or

Crew Cab short bed LTZ (10" long)

there is about $3700 diffecnce too... (crew cab more)

I'm thinking that you might want to one day take 4 people with you in the truck. I've owned both, and IMHO would never go back to an ext. cab. 4 doors will spoil you quick.

    Good luck Fla. Nau.

I have an 04 silverado crew cab, and upgraded from an 01 extended cab. The crew is much better. You can open the front and back doors independantly, where on the extended you need to open the front door first. You also have a lot of storage if you fold down the rear seats. the box is a little shorter on the crew cab, but i have never had a problem. Either way Chevy makes a great truck. I have been looking at upgrading to an 07 also.

I bought the 06 gmc z71 crew cab and love the 4 doors. I had a 98 z71 ext cab before that. I wont ever own a truck without 4 doors

Crew cab is the way to go. There are many time im locking something up and need the space of a crew cab.

RE: Trucks (ext. cab or crew cab)

the boxes are only shorter on 1/2 tons, 3/4 tons can still be bought with the standard 6.5 and optional 8 foot bed.

Crew cabs are very nice, my next truck will be a crew. It definitely isn't need, can you justify (to you, not me) spending the $ for the crew? Have you driven large SUVs before?
            I don\'t care.

As long as parking isn't a problem why not go crew cab?

extended cab gets you the standard bed and crew cab gets you the short bed, i am guessing overall he means the crew is 10" longer.

It all depends on what you want to put in the bed of your truck. The 1/2 ton ext cab and crew cab are the exact same overall length. The crew cab has a bed that is 10 inches shorter. I have a chevy extended cab and would not want a crew cab, because there have been many times when I needed the extra bed length. It's just my wife and I so the number of times I have people in the back seat is about three times a year.

A friend just bought a GMC Ex cab(November). No kids, him and the soon to be wife. In the 3 months that he has had the truck, I think I have heard him say he wishes he would have purchased the Crew at least 4 times.

He gets a new vehicle about every 2 years....so at least he has that going for him.

I have a Ford F150 Crew Cab and absolutely love it. You'll end up using 4 doors more than you think you will and the extra interior room is worth it.

Crew is the only way to go. Only drawback, you will find yourself driving more.

this reminds me of a friend with the extended cab. When he opens the rear door he can't be in a parking spot because the door opens from center and there isn't enough room to get anything in the back. go Crew Cab

Crew cab is the way to go in my opinion. I couldn't imagine owning a truck without four doors.
