The blocks turned out pretty good. They are nice and solid. Sure they are way overkill, but thats just how I do it. I was able to get all the existing wiring under the gunnels all tidy'd up. Now I have a good clean area to run my speaker wires for the interior speakers.

I still have to do something with the drivers side. I'm going to dedicate that side to a sub. I gotta go refresh my memory on how Grant undertook that project and got rid of that ridiculous hump. I think I'm gonna go ahead and pull the heater out too. I live in central Texas and most likely will never turn it on. I guess if I wanted to it could be relocated to the back and come out under the rear seats towards the floor. I think I should be okay by just putting a coupler to complete the circuit where the heater was. Then I have to figure out what to do with the breaker and the remote ballast valves. I thought maybe I could mount them up top, upside down (if that makes any sense).

I'm trying to figure out where I want to make my wiring junction setup. I am thinking about taking up the entire wall where the oem sub sat. That should give me a pretty good area to work with. I will then mount the amps up against the hull. It sure will be nice to get some storage back. I took some dimension and will throw the cavity into solidworks. My mind works much better creatively, when working in 3D space on the computer.

Working during the week sucks. It get dark too fast. I need to get some of this stuff put back on the boat so I can pull it into the garage every night to work on it.

    Cheers!

B, your work really impresses me. I always knew you had it in you, just never brought it out. I guess you have always been under a short time line. Like adding a pair of 12s an hour before we leave for Flynn. Let me know if there will be anything for me to do this week. Keep the pictures coming also.

what about riding ? I don't mean this as a slam, but I pulled my boat Friday night, pulled it all apart, scrubbed, wiped, shampooed, waxed, polished, and took care of some minor PM things, and had it back on the lake by 1pm Saturday. I am not sure I understand this project at this point. Why do it during riding season? Especially to this degree. This effort has to be rapidly approaching 3 months, as the first post was March 12th, I think, and the boat was already partly torn down.
My boat looks as good as it ever did with just 10-12 hours of work, and it is twice as old.

Get it done and get on the lake.

You have to just know Brandon to answer a question like that.

Spray, I was all pumped and ready to buy the WetSounds speakers for us or split the sub, but now it looks like I have to buy myself a new tent since Brandon decided to put it up when the twister rolled in....bummer

Slayer....I fully intended to have it done earlier. But since I work till 5:30 everyday and have two kids and an ol lady, I didn't get to put as much time into it every day as I would of liked. I could of done just a quick wipe down and cleaning, but I would of still had in the back of my mind what I really wanted to do. I wanted to clean it to the best of my ability so that I know that it is as clean as possible. Since I bought it used, there was alot of stuff that was loose. This way, I know that it is a good as new as it can get.

It pisses me off everyday that I have to work on it. It is so hot out here and no wind. I'm sure I have missed a few good riding days but....we still have the whole summer to go.

            Cheers!

like I said, I am not hacking on you, I just see a big chunk of the season being missed. That is part of it, I have 2 teenagers, a wife, job that keeps me away til 6pm, too, And I live on a farm, and have other interests as well. I am all about the riding. After I splashed back down Saturday, I made my whole family shower (farm, horses, dirtbikes, garden, etc are dirtya$$ hobbies) and wear white. I was yelling at my kids to not spill anything, wash their feet off etc.
Are you going to be able to use this thing after it is in such perfect shape? It drove me crazy after just the comparitively short amount of time I spent cleaning mine. I would be so nervous about the slightest ding, dirty feet, beer spillage.
Love the speaker install by the way, I do need to do that to mine. Those look awesome.

Oh yeah we will be able to use it. I already offered a case of one's favorite beverage to the first person who starts a mud fight!

I'm thinking about making a plaque that has rules on it and that any passengers sign off on a contract of etiquette before the board!

And I am the only one that can start a mud fight!

A buddy of mine came over to help today. I had him hit the platform with 1500 and 2000 grit wet sanding. He then applied a final coat. I think this will do it for the platform. I might consider hitting it one more time with 2000. It would be nice if I could find one of those soft sponge type sanding blocks in that high of a grit. Someone is definitely gonna bust their a$$ on the platform this summer.

Does anyone know if the platform brackets are aluminum or stainless? If they are SS, then I will just polish them. If they are aluminum, then I will have to hit it with black paint.

I also got him to hit the speaker cans for the 8's with 600 grit and then put a coat of primer on them. We will get to hit a couple of wetsand coats tomorrow and should be ready for paint.

While he was working on that, I started on the board to mount all the wiring and crossovers for the interior speakers.

I have gotten to the point where I am ready to hit the water. I am foregoing doing a final/finished install for all the stereo components. I am going to go as far so that I don't have to remove the interior again. I will get all the tower speakers and interior speaker wiring done all the way to one location. The mounts for the amps and crossovers will be more or less temporary. This is due to time and mostly the lack of funds. It will be about a month or so before I can afford to buy all matching amps and a new crossover. For the meantime, I will get the system up and running using the old stuff. It should still sound good, just not completely finished. Atleast when I get all new equipment, I won't have to tear the boat apart to install it...all the wiring will be complete.

The board that I started on will be resin'd and then painted. All the wiring from the speakers will come into a terminal block. For the towers, the other side of the terminal block will hook to the amps. For the internal speakers, they will hook to one terminal block. On the other side, it will hook into the output of the crossover. The input of the crossover will hook to the other terminal block. The other side will then hook to the amp driving the internal speakers. It will make more sense once I wire it up and you can see it. All the wires will disappear beneath behind the board and then come back up to the terminal block.

The other portion of the board is for power. The power from the battery will go into the distribution blocks. Three of the outputs will go directly to the amp (not through the terminal blocks). The other will go to the other terminal block for accessories (leds, crossovers, remote turn-on, etc.). There is another block for the grounds. I have to go pick up a 4-way fuse block that will mount right above the positive block.

I picked up some supplies at the stockroom today.....You never know what size ring terminal you'll need. All connections to the ring terminals will be properly crimped and soldered. The screws for the terminals will be red loctited for the screws that will never get undone and blue for the speaker inputs.

We'll see if I make it to the water by Saturday.....I sure hope the boat starts!

                      Think I have enough?

You can see the reflections in this picture pretty well

Deck looks sweet. All my prep work was worth it. You said a mouth full with all that wire mumbo jumbo. As long as it puts out the viberations to the right people were good. Looks like a whole lot of work still to be done. Wish I was in town to help out. That board looks solid as well. Good work guys.

Jones, We only use that tent at the lake house and thats not going to happen this summer. So go ahead and get the wetsounds. B, we need to get Andys mom to make that plaque for us.

well I told B to email me the link to what to buy for speakers and amps and he never came through(surprise)....money already spent on a flight to Vegas in August. The deck looks sweet!! Great job!! It will be a miracle if all the speakers and lights work first time...

My buddy Andy came back over to help. He finished wetsanding the tower speakers. He's gonna take it to a friends body shop to see if he will paint them for us. he also got the light bar painted. All I have to do now is run the wiring for it. I had him clean the outside of the wedge tanks. Tomorrow, we should be ready to install the tanks and the actuators for the rear side pads. I have to get him to solder the wires. The stupid spade terminals always fall off and am tired of fixing them. I then might have him go ahead and reinstall the rear deck cushions and finish out the rear end.

I picked up a new fuse block and some stinger wire to run between the block and the amps. While I was there at the audio shop I took a look at the Alpine PDX amps. I am sold on these. Those little bastards are digital and are tiny. In a little while I will pick up 2X 4.150's and a 1.1000.

I got the interior speaker wiring done and routed to a central location. Tomorrow I will get Andy to solder the Neutrik connectors on the speakers and the wiring. I will start the tower wiring routed.

I figured that I have 5 runs to make through the tower. 4X for tower speakers and 1 for the light bar. That should be fun!

Oh yeah...and I miscounted the required input terminals for the interior speakers. I need 24 spaces not 12, so I had to do a little rearranging of the terminal blocks.
