Which lake you hitting?

The wife and I will be at Somerville with some friends on Sat and possibly back on Sunday with her Brother, Sister-in-law and their two kids.

You might want to be careful on the platform when it gets wet. Right after I really oiled ours up, you would slip and fall and bust your arse on it because it was so slipery.

Probably just going to Lake Bryan. we haven't been to Somerville in some time. We used to go there back in the day when we were in school. Since they have opened up lake B, we started to go there since it is only 10mins away. Plus they got a pretty nice little bar there on the water. It gets crowded there pretty fast, but we are usually there during the week anyways.

I can imaging the deck wet. It's going to be super slick....but it'll look good.

Didn't get to make an update last night.....too many Miller Lite's!

I took a few hours off work to start early. We got the rear ballast tanks installed and the bracket to hold the divider walls between the tank and the engine.

Shot white automotive paint on the speakers and light bar. I have to do a few touch ups. After 4 coats of paint and wetsanding with 2000grit, they look great. After you buff it, it looks as smooth and shiny as gelcoat.

We soldered the neutrik connectors to the speakers. However, I didn't realize that I had only gotten 4 of the male connectors and that 4 were back ordered. So now I have to resort to 3 of the speakers using **** male female spade terminals. I will go back later and fix those when they come in. We did atleast get the wires soldered to each speaker, so that's half the battle.

I got the holes drilled into the hull for the tower wiring. Had to drill two extra holes in the backer plates to match. I got all the holes drilled into the tower pieces itself and pull strings ran for each hole. Whomever cam up with the string/vacuum trick is the bomb diggity! It's amazingly easy to do and probably saved me countless hours of time trying to fish wire through there. It's going to be a trick to get all the pieces on the wire when I wire the tower. There is heatshrink, expandable wrap, and a grommet that must go between the legs and the upper piece.

Oh yeah....I also "acquired" two brand new interstate green batteries for the stereo. That'll make 4 total for the boat. 1 for the engine and three for the stereo and accessories. I think I gonna put the two new ones up in the bow since the port side has a perfect spot. Not to mention it'll help our my goofy foot wake (haha...I'm the only one that rides goofy).

Not sure if we'll make it out to the lake this weekend. I've gotten this far and not about the cut corners just to meet an artificial deadline.

          Cheers!!!!

See the nice new shiny interstates?

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We got to the lake on Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had help from 3 of my buddies on Friday night. We ended up staying up till 5:30 in the morning to get it done. Sorry, I don't have pics from every step of putting the boat back together. I think it might of had to do with the copious amounts of alcohol that we had at our disposal. We got about 2 hours of sleep and then got up. Started off the day with some breakfast taco's construction worker style on the hood of the caddy and a miller lite!

That morning and into the afternoon, we started up the engine, got the tower mounted and all the seats put back in. After that, all that was left to hook up the stereo. I didn't get to do a clean install of the wires, but just remember it is only temporary until I get some new amps, subs, etc.

We ended up putting the wraps on it at about 4 in the afternoon. Surprisingly, everything worked. I couldn't believe it. The stereo worked flawlessly. Even at full blast, no speakers cutout what so ever. The boat ran perfect. This was the first time out with the new acme 644. With full ballast and 8 people on board, she pulled like a champ. All gauges and pumps worked perfect.

It's been a long journey and still far from over. At least now, I can continue with the upgrades with the knowledge that I am starting with something as good as it can get.

I have attached probably more pics that yall could ever want...sorry!

i don't care what u say about big trucks, fast cars, or motorcycles, chicks dig boats the most! doesn't hurt to pull the boat with a big truck and have a fast car and a bike in the garage too though

What do you mean by when they opened up Lake Bryan?

The lake was open when I was at school there, and from the looks of your pictures I would say that was a couple years before you were there. Heck the A&M sailing team has a bunch of their boats there, and I was on the lake in my father's boat when I was in school.

We are talking about the lake that the local utility company uses as coolant for their plant, right?

When I was in school there you could boat on any area, but the jet skis were restricted to a small area to the left of the launching ramps.

Recently I have not been able to make it to the lake but once a month or so for only one day. I hope that frequency increases.

We are thinking of moving the boat to a marina on Travis where we can go up there in the car and just call them and have the boat in the water waiting for us.

I had a boat on Travis for over 10 years at Riviera Marina(dry stack). It was actually 2 different boats, both I/Os. I'm now on Lake Austin with a SN 196.
I don't know what boat you have, but Travis can get pretty nasty on a weekend. It's ok early, but I would get off the lake by 11am the last few years. It's a beautiful lake with great places to hang out and excellent swimming with clear water, but the last few years things have gotten so busy it makes it harder to enjoy.
Last year, with the water so low, it actually cut down on traffic with so many of the ramps unusable. This year the water is back up and the only thing that will hold down the traffic is gas prices, but I don't think that'll have a huge effect.
I don't mean to sound so negative, it's a great lake, just want to make sure you know the situation.

My wife is an Aggie. I'm an LSU guy.

Ag.....We are talking the same lake. I meant, when they officially opened it up for skiing. Up until about 3-4 years ago, you could only boat, fish, and jetski. They did not allow you to pull a tube or a skier. Could of been a longer time ago. I guess I am getting old and it is longer that I thought when I was in school.

They opened it up for skiing like 6 years ago. It was 00 or 01. B, remember we did that demo ride during the drag races with the MobiusV. If I remember correctly that was the same weekend you busted your chin open and had stiches installed on your face. Its all coming back to you now hugh? As you get older you forget when stuff happened.
