So I guess it was more like 6 years ago. I did bust my chin open twice at Bryan. I guess they all run together.

So it took me like two hours to clean the garage and driveway after our marathon Friday and Saturday working on the boat. All I had time to do today is to make one half of my aux input cable to hook up the the chitty clarion deck. The CD portion went out a while ago, so we rely on an ipod. Who uses cd's anymore anyways?

I know it would of been easier to just put some RCA's panel mounted into the dash....but what would be the fun in that. Plus, those connectors are not waterproof, and I'm not a fan of having line level connections exposed to the elements 24/7. Since I design outdoor LCD's, I have access to all kinds of watertight IP68 connectors. I grabbed a 8-position switchcraft connector and panel mount socket. What I did tonight is make the short cable to plug into the dash and then into the ipod. I used an 8-pin for future expansion (video, ect.)

Still waiting on the 13-pin din to make the other part that hooks into the deck.

    Cheers!

Gotta make sure I pinned it out right.

I graduated from A&M in 99 and we couldnt ride on that lake. I have pretty pink piece of paper that says somthing about "no hydroplaning devices". Not sure, I didnt read it that close the first time.

Glad to see that boat back together. Looks like you do good work.

So yesterday I took half the day off of work to work on the boat. We were going to be going out that afternoon.

First thing was to replace the two belts (alternator and waterpump). The alternator belt shredded itself the other day when we were loading up. I had to shim one side of the bracket because the pulley was slightly out of alignment. This is only a temporary fix and I have to find out the root cause, because it should be dead eye dick inline with the way the bracket it made. I think the misalignment is what is causing me to shred this belt (on our 3rd one already).

I then started to look at the sub amp because it stopped working the same day. I took it apart and there were some input capicators that had burned up as well as some protection diodes that had taken a crap. I replace the caps and just disconnected the diodes. It still should work without the diodes just with no protection from the powersupply from crapping out. Oh well, it was a junky old amp. I got it fired up, but had some bad thumping noise......Trashed! We might use it as a boat anchor one day when we are in a pinch.

I talked one of the owners to going to best buy and picking up an el cheapo to last us for a while. I got it hooked up while we were out on the water. It actually sounded good for about 3 hours, then the speaker blew. We had been using an old RF 1000W max 10. I guess it couldn't handle the power of the $200 amp. Oh well, we had some bump for a little while. I still have an old 12 laying around, but I have to build a box. That'll be next weeks project.

One of my non-owner buddies made a deposit for the cause and hooked us up with some boat bling in the form of a mirror mount from diywake. I ordered the one for the 1-7/8 tube, but it is just too tight. We finally got the screws started, but couldn't get it all the way tight. I might have to take it to a machine shop to have them open the hole up a little bit. Pretty good little piece of machined hardware for only $67.

I got the aux input cable made an ran. It worked flawlessly. I'll post some pics when I get it all permanently mounted.

Anyways.....on to the good part of the day. I actually got in two good sets. I landed raley's on both sets and even got a touch of my hand on the board while attempting an OHH. I just started landing raley's last season after attempting it for about 5 years and after 3 broken ribs.

After my set a few others got to ride. A buddy was driving and got up because it was hit turn. The rope had drifted up right along the side of the boat. I leaned over and pulled it up as it looked like it was caught on one of the keel fins. I had thought I had it out and then put it into drive to get the rope behind us. Sure enough it was still under the boat and got completely wrapped around the prop. I spent about an hour under there trying to get it undone and ended up cutting it off. I was able to get enough out that we could just idle along. The prop spinned freely, but didn't want to take any chances, so we just putted back to the other side of the lake to go a chill and listen to music.

We were over there for about an hour and then tried to start the boat. It wouldn't fire after many attempts. Looked at the gas gauge and it read empty. So here we are out in the middle of the lake out of gas and here comes this mackdaddy of a rain storm. Luckily another boat that I had given a surfboard to try (they were trying to surf on a wakeskate and I felt bad for them) came over to pull us in.

We got the boat loaded, ate some dinner and headed home. On the way, I stopped and threw $20 in petrol into the boat. Tried to start it, and nothing. I was like aww ****, now whats wrong. I get it back to the house, looked around for loose ignition wires, etc. and found nothing. I even went so far as to pull a plug, hold it up to the block to see if I could see a spark. I was getting no fire! It was dark so I decided to mess with it in the morning.

I was laying in bed last night and had one of those "ahh ****" epiphany moments. I went out to the boat in my boxers, looked over the side to see the safety lanyard laying on the floor. what the heck? I don't know what we were thinking out there to not even see that.

I have decided that I am definitely going to go with my original plan an bypass that worthless thing. I will still leave it in there, but short the wires behind the panel.

Atleast we didn't try to swim the boat all the way into the dock!!!!

              Man what a trip!!!

I love it when you're laying in bed and something you've been trying to think about just wacks you in the side of the head!

I couldn't figure out where my transmission was leaking from in an 88 300zx I had until one night in a dream I found the leak where the shifter went into the tranny. The next morning I took the center console out and sure enough, the boot was ripped and fluid was all over it. It was just running down to the main part of the tranny before it was dripping!

Glad ya made it out though!!!

I think we still have some work to do. The mirror looks sweet. I guess that is one way to get a new rope for the season. Its going to be awesome this weekend will all that clear music and no bump. We need to get Mrs. Jones to make us some spaeker covers. Those custom heaftys are so last year. MMATL!

I know it sucks. It's almost counter productive. But if you would of seen the cover, then you wouldn't put it on either. I have to get it cleaned.

                    Plus....water dries clear!

Very Impressive! Mad props to Brandon, Sprayberry, BuckDogg, Andy for helping out and getting the boat all ready. If they hadn't I know Brandon would still have the boat in pieces for a couple more months at least.

The boat looks and runs great! Let's figure out the stereo problem( I knew it wouldn't work perfect after a couple trips to the lake). Also, the tower is pre-wired for the light bar and two more speakers. We have the cans, so what speakers are we going to use? Now that we are going to the lake, shotgunning, and "boatbun'ing" we can't let the project go unfinished, especially after so much hard work. Make a wishlist, what do we need?

Whoever drives a black Mobius on Lake Bryan needs a class is boater etiquette!!! what the heck!!! Thunderstorms all week this week...what the heck!!!

Man what a sucky trip, but it still beats any day at work.

I must have been lucky, since I skied at Bryan a few times between 96 and 98 and never got harrased.

As for Lake Travis, I know how nasty it can be. One time we launched at the dam and drove up to the Pedernales river where the good water is. Took us most of the day with the chop so bad, but we made it. There were stretches we could only go about 10 MPH with the bow raised as high as I could get it.

If we keep the boat there, almost all of our time will be spent above the Pace Bend Park. We find the water is much better up there (less traffic and much less wind). As it is right now, we usually launch at Pace Bend and go up towards the Pedernales river.

Well the only thing that hasnt been paid for is the amps, sub, and tower speakers. I vote to put andys 12 in a box and use the amp Buck bought and call it a day. Everything else just needs to be installed. Buck paid for the PP motor, but you spent it else where. Looks like the tree needs to be watered by you. Shoot him another email with the type of valves he needs to get from work. Did you know that his girlfriends dad works a boat supply place? Hummm!

I ordered the same mirror last year. I had the exact problem & then the threads stripped out. The only way it would fit on the tower is to have the arm facing towards the front of the boat. The mfg told me there must me something wrong with my tower and then stopped returning my calls. It now sits in a box in the garage. A piece of ****!
