    Utahns are America's fourth-worst boaters.

If you boat on Lake Powell, you may want to read this article.
They need to do something about this.

From what I can tell for 2005:

          Total Accidents:
          1. California - 630
          2. Florida - 603
          3. Missouri - 202
          4. Arizona - 194
          5. New York - 190
          6. Maryland - 183
          7. North Carolina - 164
          8. Michigan - 161
          9. Texas - 144
          10. Ohio - 132
          Indiana - 41

          Fatal Accidents:
          1. Florida - 67
          2. California - 55
          3. Lousiana - 33
          4. Texas - 30
          5. Michigan - 26
          6. washington - 24
          7. Missouri - 22
          8. Minnesota - 21
          9. Wisconsin - 17
          10. Tie - North Carolina and Illinois - 16
          Ohio - 11
          Indiana - 3

          Non-Fatal Injury Accidents:
          1. California - 303
          2. Florida - 278
          3. Arizona - 124
          4. Missouri - 100
          5 & 6. Maryland & New York - 96
          7. North Carolina - 95
          8. Michigan - 90
          9. Tennessee - 81
          10. Ohio - 72
          Indiana - 22

          Property Damage Accidents:
          1. California - 272
          2. Florida - 258
          3. Missouri - 80
          4. New York - 79
          5. Maryland - 73
          6. Arizona - 65
          7. North Carolina - 53
          8. Washington - 52
          9, 10 & 11 - Virginia, New Jersey & Ohio - 49
          Michigan - 45
          Indiana - 16

I don't know if the article used 2006 numbers, but from what I can tell California and Florida are the worst states, but I expect that as those two states have more coast line than any other states (except alaska).

What is real suprising is the value loss where Georgia is a close fourth place to California and Tennessee is a close second to Florida.

          Property damage value:
          1. Florida - $5,350,629
          2. Tennessee - $4,701,771
          3. California - $3,381,151
          4. Georgia - $3,103,447
          5. Virginia - $2,012,592
          6. Washington - $1,398,097
          7. Missouri - $1,389,552
          8. New York - $1,321,878
          9. Maryland - $1,129,302
          10. Connecticut - $1,001,340

Now where did Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and Main being the top 4 come from?

Also note that any accidents within 9 miles of shore in the gulf of mexico are part of the state records, but only 3 miles for the pacific and the atlantic.

It was a percentage: Number of accidents/1000 registered boats.

It is still misleading statistic because we don't know how many of the accidents involved out of state boaters.

What happens to wrecked Nautiques?? How bad can they be and still be saved?

I guess there are guys in that business just like cars. How would you know you didn't just buy a previous wreck?

Or....... is buying a previous wreck a good way to save money on a boat you couldnt afford otherwise?

****< Im just full o these questions, I know.
