    Hurt by a Nautique Dealer

Well sorry to make this public...but after two awesome years of loyal and awesome employment at Buxton Marine I have been released from any means of buying food. Several of you know that I am attending a Fire Fighting school...I had made a verbal agreement with Buxton Marine that it was ok for me to attend this school...that I will graduate from on May 18th and be able to continue my employment during the busy season from here on out.

This business establishment made me feel that I was a crucial part of the family. I invested myself in this as a former Nautique owner and employee of another Nautique dealer. However, they had the nerve to send me a letter, rather than tell me of what...if any issue they had with my aiding in the sales process.

I miss...more than any of you know...the job and relationships I made during this employment...I went to bat against any person that had a negative issue with this organization.

I decided to become a Fire Fighter to serve and put my life on the line for the people of my community and supplement my income during the boat season. Had I known this would have happened I would have gone to the night Fire Fighter Academy...in order to continue with a job and product I cared so deeply for.

I have never felt more let down and betrayed. I am sure some of you can relate to the stomach ulcer I have over the worry of making ends meet.

"At this time, I am unable to continue your employment based on your availability." Phil Smith

I never made a choice to leave Buxton Marine...I made a decision to cut back hours during the slow season to earn and better myself.

    Blakester

    P.S.
I know of a dealer in Austin has worked with salesmen that wanted to become a Fire Fighter.

I know it was on the other end... but Buxton screwed me over too.

Good luck with the fire fighting and whatever else comes your way!!! And thanks in advance for being a fire fighter!

Hey, sorry to hear about your bad dealer experience, they do suck...

However, you could look at it like this, no one will ever think higher of a "boat salesman" than a fire fighter--ever...

Interesting choice to air this on a public forum? What is your objective, are you just venting?

Two years is a fairly brief period, not sure if loyalty is the issue.

Good luck with your new endeavour. I returned to college in my 30's to get my engineering degree. It's a tough road but you can work it out if you have the desire adn determination to suceed.

I run a business with sales people that are full time only. If my people wanted to do something on the side, I would assist them just like your employer has done.

Customers demand only the best and I cannot afford any less than 100% dedication and commitment from the reps that interact with my clients.

Sorry you are disappointed, but there is no way to give two careers 100%.

Best wishes to your firefighting work! We need you out there.

Good luck being a firefighter. I worked FT for a large city in Ohio for about 6 years. There is not other job/comrodery like it left out there. Good luck!

Posting something like this is completely inappropriate - the only thing that you could hope to accomplish is to damage the Buxton's reputation and business. Sounds like to me that you weren't available to work when they needed you so it's pretty hard to justify your payroll. I've had nothing but great experiences dealing with Buxton Marine over 9 years and 3 new Nautiques...

I dont think its inappropriate at all... if we can come here and show off our dealers when they do amazing service, its only fair that we give both sides as well... Dealers should use PN as a "tool" to only show off the good stuff... if we're going to talk about dealers, lets be fair and not decisive...

This thread has nothing to do with service and is simply between an ex-employee and a business. They obviously had a reason to dismiss him; that's that and should be kept between the dealership and this person. Because a dealership let someone go for whatever reason, is that indicative of the service that they provide or will provide to customers? I don't think so, JMO.

There certainly is not always a direct connection between this situation and the service they give everyday. But, for many, including me, its not just a question of who does the best service when I'm "shopping" around dealers... its more an overall question of which dealer do I want to support more. In this case, sure, Buxton's service to me wont be influenced by this incident. But now that I know more about a dealer as a whole (everybody always wants to know as much as they can to make the best decision possible), i would rather support another dealer over Buxton. Maybe I'm too cynical (sp?) and hard on dealers, but if they claim to be the best, I'm going to hold them to that...

Yeah, as much as that sucks for you, as someone else said "business is business" I go to school and work nearly full time (around 30+ hrs/week) but if my employer suddenly said they needed someone more committed for my job for be here around 40 hrs a week all year long, i can't really be mad about that. Business is business, sometimes people's feelings will get hurt in the process, but to be a good manager/owner, you've gotta be able to make those decisions...IMHO
