Maybe not in NY but here in TX we are an "at will employer" we can fire you for no reason. Obviously, as hard as it is to find people that will actually work these days, we don't just fire people without some reason....but we don't have to have a reason at all. Of course there are exceptions to this (i.e. Union workers probably have rights protecting them from such things, dont really know though). Agree with Jasper, people need to start spending there time working and less time looking for there "rights" or the next "lawsuit", if people would just devote some time to actually trying to be great employees this world would be better.
