Making jump seats

Once I get working again this summer, I want to make 2 jump seats for the boat. They don't have to resemble the real deal CC seats, just function the same. Cost is the main issue, they don't have to last 5+ years either. The original seats in our '78 Harris FloteBote pontoon are finally crumbling (literally) and were made from plywood. I was thinking plywood framing, basic vinyl covering, but haven't put much thought into the foam yet. Anyone else do this and where/what foam should I use? Like I said, I haven't done a lick of research on the foam yet, but that's all there really is to figure out.

I can't imagine sitting on the floor with a board/skiis in your lap is comfortable (wouldn't know always either driving, riding or videotaping from motor box)

How about that. As I'm riding my bike to my PO meeting, I come across "Foam City", basically a garage full of foam sheets with a counter and his calculator. I stopped in and chatted with the guy that runs the place, and came up with a few ideas. For the seat bottoms, I'm thinking 1/2" closed cell foam, with 1 1/2" open high-density cell on top of that. The backs will only need the 1 1/2" open high-density cell foam. A full sheet of HD 1 1/2" foam (24" wide x 80" long) is $56.

Each seat definitely won't need to be more than 24" wide or long (even with overlapping on the edges). I like the styling of the optional judges seats on the '89 Barefoot Nautique, but doubt I'll be able to get the dimensions of those.

If anybody wants to take measurements of their standard jump seat bottom and back custions(not the one that curves) that would be greatly appreciated. I won't be able to get to any Nautique dealership for the next 2 weeks. Mine will have a slight backwards lean so you won't feel like you're slipping off when the boat is on tilt in motion.

Hollywood, You dont by any chance have the number for the foam city place. I know its been a while but i am making the rear seat to my 94 and am going to need some foam. Thanks.

I've got a Nautique jump seat in my Prostar 205 and having ordered the OEM skins, will soon be making one that will contour to my seat. All the same, I've got the dimensions for the jump seat base for the Nautique seat. Hope this helps.
