Daryl that is amazing. I am so pumped for next year. A better question to ask now is - what is the earliest the Northern skiiers get their equipment IN the water? !! I am anticipating/hoping to get my boat in sometime in May. Still figuring out holidays for next year which will be the major factor of when the boat goes in.

Mark-S - I have often thought of rigging up a nautique for duck hunting - just for craps and giggles. No doubt would get some stares and glares.

Chief don't do it man! there is a guy on my lake with an inboard duck boat but it's not a ski boat. He just put a V8 in a big jon boat and it's the dumbest thing I've ever seen. Git-R-Done!

After looking at the 10 day forcast and not seeing anything over 44f, I decided to pull the bouys last night. It is dark at 445pm now so skiing after work is not an option. The air was 56f and the water was 48f. My wife ran one of her best sets of the year and I ran into 38. I will take that for the last day in Minnesota for the year. Started on Mar 27th and finished on Nov 4, not bad. I hope to get down south a few more times before xmass. This is the worst part of the year when the lake is not frozen, but there are no balls on top to ski around. Nothing worse then looking out at glass and knowing you cant rip it up.

MARK-S, I had the flattest water of the year yesterday evening, only to be driving the boat over to the ramp!

I failed to add the it was Glass last night. By midnight the wind switched to the NW at 25 and it is now 36f. What a change.

                  Gooru top

The hot water shower is a must in the real cold water - a heater will never warm you up

put warm water inside the wetsuits and hit the warm water again when you get on the swim platform... makes all the difference in the world. In the dry suit it gets your feet and hands warm when you come out of the water.

Three things you can't do without in the cold - a shower, a gooru top, and a driver that gets back to you in a HURRY.
Daryl - do you wear your "Gooru" top under your wetsuit/drysuit or do you wear that between seasons (ie, September). I have a cheap shorty westuit that I wore this year. There is enough room for me to wear something like a Gooru underneath it which would provide me with additional torso and arm warmth. I don't have the cash for a drysuit right now. And realistically in years to come with my bizarre schedule I won't be skiing much past the first week of October anyhow. So something cheap like a Gooru is tempting.

                  Thanks

                    RE: Gooru top

I don't wear the Gooru under the wetsuit or drysuit. Just the Gooru (style #2261 at www.oneill.com)

I find it amazingly warm. I will consider buying the Gooru shorty for next season - I am not sure from the pictures if the shorty has the same "shiny: surface as the #2261. The gooru shorty is style #2616

I'm pretty sure, style #2613 (the full suit) would replace the dry suit for me (if it is as warm as the #2261)

I can't say enough about how warm this top is, I only went to the dry suit just because it was too cold for my lower body - my upper body was still managable in the cold water (putting some warm water inside the suit helped as well)

I would recommend the top for sure, i basically didn't wear my shorty once I got this. Went with the Gooru with board shorts, into late October. Then jumped to the dry suit once the water temp was around 7 or 8C.

something else of interest is just how well it keeps the wind off. Face, ears, hands, and shins were all cold, upper body was perfect.

is it obvious - I highly recommend the GOORU GBS L/S CREW

So Daryl, do you think wearing one of these "gooru" tops would be a good idea under a thin shorty wetsuit? Maybe it would be better worn over top?

                        RE: Gooru top

i can't see why it wouldn't work either over or under a wetsuit.

i have worn it over my shorty once - after that I didn't see any reason to wear the shorty any more - my upper body is so warm, and i don't get any significant extra warmth from the shorty.

                          RE: Gooru top

i wear a gooru under my wet suit every time i use the wet suit. One more thin layer that is really tight on your body and keeps a lot of water off while keeping a lot of heat in. I love them. 1.5 mm really helps, especially because im 6'2 and really skinny so i dont fill out the wet suit in terms of width, but i fill it out in terms of height no problem so the gooru is great
