Looks as though I will being going under the knife. Labor Day weekend a nasty little spill while trying to catch a double up, caused some pain like a seperated shoulder, but later I got back on the board and rode many times after. The pain would not go away and the ortho doc says bad news, two tears in the muscle with no chance of it healing itself. Anybody have this and what should I expect. Want to be prepared for rehab. He said with rehab I will out of commision for 5-6 months, so hopefully I will be riding again next summer only with a bit more caution. It's also my right arm and I am right handed, UGH!

Batman:
Listen to Kozmo's advice.
I managed workers comp cases for our company and the absolute worst ones were rotater cuff surgeries.
The key seemed to be a very, very good surgeon and diligence in following the instructions of the physical therapist.
My understanding is that there are some new techniques out there so be sure you find a good qualified surgeon and then get a second opinion. Be very clear with the Dr. what your expectations are post surgery and that he/she understands the type of activities you participate in.
