    Pearl Harbor Day

Seems like over the years we hear less and less about Pearl Harbor Day and what happened Sunday morning, December 7, 1941. As we start into this weekend, let's all take a moment and think about all of the men and women who are serving, and have served, in the armed forces in defense of freedom and our great nation.

Remember the patriots in 1776 that stood up to a tyrannical king, giving birth to our country, the brothers, fathers and sons that fought in the war between the States, veterans that fought in the war to end all wars (WWI) and the war that soon followed (WWII), the Korean War, Vietnam, the Gulf Wars, and the lesser known conflicts in between. While I never served, I have friends/neighbors/relatives that have served. An uncle I never got to know was a B-17 bomber pilot and died in Europe. Another uncle proudly server under Gen. George S. Patton, and was fortunate enough to make it back home alive. He died last year at the age of 84. Another uncle fought in Vietnam and was also lucky enough to make it out of the jungle alive. He is in his mid-sixties and doing well.

To all the veterans on this site, thanks just doesn't quite seem to be enough. You are a big part of what makes our country the best. And for those of you that have kids, take them to visit a war memorial, battle site, a military history museum, or your local VA hospital. Don't let the next generation forget the sacrifices previous generations have made in service to America.

I have now stepped off my soap box. Thanks for reading.
