I always enjoy listening to comedy CDs on road trips… They really seem to pass the time.

        A few recommendations…

Robert Schimmel is hilarious. Pick up “Comes Clean” and “If You Buy This CD, I can Buy This Car”. “Unprotected” is from an HBO special and combines bits from the other two CDs.

I’ve always been a Rodney Dangerfield fan… One of his early records, “The Looser”, is available on CD under the title “What’s in a Name?” “The Looser/What’s In A Name” pre-dates his ‘No Respect’ stuff and is very funny. His “Flying Southern Comfort” bit is worth picking up the CD.

Craig Shoemaker is pretty good too... Check out “Craig Shoemaker meets the Lovemaster”.

Bob Marley - the comedian from Maine, not the reggae guy – has a great bit about waterskiing on his ‘Bob Marley LIVE’ CD that I think we can all appreciate.

If you have satellite radio in the car just tune into one of the comedy stations. I have Sirius and enjoy the Raw Dog station on the way to Maine.

I hope everyone hitting the road has a safe trip!

I dare you to play The Reverend Horton Heat or The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and keep it under a hundred.

The Hold Steady, Tom Waits, Lucinda Williams, Pixies, Replacements all melt the miles away.
