Only mark threads that are actually viewed as "read"

Thanks for the awesome site Jeff! It loads quickly, has amazing members/content and I never see it get spammed. My one tiny complaint is that it seems to mark everything as read whether you actually view it or not. It would be great if it only marked the threads as viewed if you actually viewed them. This may be a limitation of the forum software but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask. It would be nice to check the site when I only have a few minutes to check out 1 or 2 threads and then come back later and have everything I didn't look at still marked as unread. Thanks again for providing an awesome site. I am long overdue to make a donation and order some stickers to help support the site. I just gotta measure a few spots on my trailer and boat to determine what size and colors to order.

Yes, as you suspected, this is a limitation in the site software. I was planning to upgrade the site software over this past winter, and I think that would fix this, but it turned out that I wasn't totally happy with the new version, and it didn't have all of the features that we needed at that time. It is now up to a point where I would feel comfortable upgrading, but I really don't want to do that this time of year, since the site is so busy right now. I will probably look to do this in the fall, and hopefully that will help.
