HEIC Images Not Supported on PlanetNautique

Back in 2017, iOS devices began defaulting to saving images in .HEIC format. This saves space on the phone and allows for higher-quality images.

Unfortunately, vBulletin, our site software, does not support this image format.

Therefore, before uploading images to PlanetNautique, please convert them to a supported format, such as .JPG.

If you plan to upload pictures here regularly, you may want to change the setting on your phone to store images in a format other than .HEIC.

To do that, follow this procedure:

1. Go to iOS Settings and swipe down to Camera.
2. Tap Formats
3. Tap Most Compatible to set the default photo format to JPG.

Just to add a bit to this, .HEIC images are only viewable in the Safari web browser, so even if vBulletin were to support these images, only users using the Safari web browser would be able to see them.

It is best to just use a more standard format for images, such as .jpg or .gif.
